Roy Radke commits to Colts
Barrie, ON– Barrie Colts General Manager Jason Ford announced today that forward Roy Radke has committed to the team and has signed an OntarioHockey League standard player agreement.
The Barrie Colts selected the American born winger in the 12th round, 243rd overall in 2012. Over the last two season’s Radke has played for Culver Military Academy and Shattuck St. Mary’s, two of the top prep schools in the United States.
“We are pleased today to announce the signing of Roy Radke to our hockey club. Roy brings skill and size to the lineup, and as an organization we felt like he was ready to make our team in last year’s training camp,” said General Manager Jason Ford.
The 6’2” 205lbs Geneva, Illinois native played last season with the Shattuck St. Mary’s Midget Boys Prep Team where he tallied 19 goals, 21 assists for 40 points in 49 games played.
“He had a productive year at Shattuck Prep, and wants to pursue an opportunity with the Colts to pursue his dream of getting drafted into the NHL. Roy has a physical side to him, and also combines good hockey sense with size and touch on the wing,” added Ford.
Radke will be eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft as he enters into his first OHL season.
“I am excited to be part of the winning tradition and a first class organization like the Barrie Colts. I am determined and willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win this season,” said Radke.
Last season Radke was apart of the Shattuck Prep Boys team which won a record ninth National Championship. After completing his grade 11 year he will now finish his post-secondary education at Blyth Academy in Barrie.
Barrie Colts training camp will begin on Monday August 25th at the Barrie Molson Centre before the pre-season kicks off on Sunday August 31st against the Owen Sound Attack.
