The Devils have signed free agent center Joseph Blandisi, Devils’ President/GM Lou Lamoriello announced today.
Blandisi, 20, is enjoying his his fourth and most productive season in junior hockey. He leads Barrie (OHL) with 30 goals in 39 games and ranks second on the club with 69 points. Only two OHLers have more goals than the Markham, Ontario, native, who has 14 special teams tallies – seven on the power play and seven shorthanded.
Named Colts’ captain on Nov. 19, Blandisi is in his first full season with Barrie after being acquired from Ottawa last January. He has 201 points (86g-115a) in 217 OHL games with Owen Sound, Ottawa and Barrie.
The 6-0, 192-lb., lefthanded shooter was a sixth-round pick (162nd overall) of Colorado in 2012. He turns 21 on July 18.
