The Wolves welcomed their divisional rivals the Barrie Colts Wednesday night at the Sudbury Arena. The Wolves fought hard but could not beat the divisional leaders, falling 6-2.
The Colts dominated the Wolves in the first, keeping the majority of the play in the home team’s end . The Wolves took the first penalty of the game, which led to JOSEPH BLANDISI beating Wolves’ goaltender TROY TIMPANO to put the Colts up 1-0. It didn’t take long for the Wolves to respond as overage defenceman JEFF CORBETT lit the lamp in the last minute of the first to tie the game 1-1. Shots on goal at the end of the first were 13-9 for the Colts.
It was a busy second period with both teams exchanging goals and penalties. TRAVIS WOOD finished a great play by BRADY PATAKI to put the Wolves up 2-1 seven minutes into the frame. The Colts responded with two goals from JOESPH BLANDISI and ROY RADKE to give the Colts the 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.
The third period proved to be the difference maker in the game as the Colts pushed hard adding three goals from KEVIN LEBANC, BRENDAN LEMIEUX and ANDREW MANGIAPANE. That was as far as they came as the Wolves fell 6-2 to the Colts. Final shots on goal were 42-33 in favour of the Colts.
