Colts Beat Storm 4-2
The Barrie Colts finished off the pre-season with a 4-2 victory over the Guelph Saturday night at the Barrie Molson Centre. The victory improved their pre-season record to 4-2. The club will begin their regular season schedule with three straight road games; the first scheduled for Thursday night in Ottawa to face the 67’s. The Colts outshot the Storm 52 to 28 in the game. Andreas Athanasiou’s goal at 19:26 of the 2nd period put the Colts ahead 3-2, and Mark Scheifele added insurance at 3:15 of the third with his second goal of the game. Ryan O’Connor scored his 5th goal of the pre-season to round out the scoring. Mathias Niederberger appeared in goal and sealed the victory with 26 saves. Justin Auger and Zach Mitchell each scored for Guelph, and goaltender Garrett Sparks was especially busy in goal with 48 saves. Not dressed tonight for the Colts were; Dylan Corson, Dylan Smoskowitz, Chris Buonomo, Tyson Fawcett and Erik Bradford.
