Colts announce 2014 Rookie Development Camp
The Barrie Colts announced today the details of their annual rookie development camp.
The one-day camp will take place this Saturday, April 26th at 4:00 p.m. at the Allandale Recreational Centre.
The Colts will welcome draft picks from each of the last two seasons and free agents to take part in the two-hour game.
“We feel that this camp is a great opportunity for us as an organization to see all of the players in our system as well as some free agents on the ice at the same time. It allows us a glimpse into the future of the Barrie Colts and what we have moving forward. It is very beneficial for the players as well as they will be able to measure themselves and their skill against other players that have the same goals and ambitions as their own,” said Colts Assistant GM Dave Drinkill.
Barrie completed the 2014 OHL Priority Selection on Saturday, April 5th where they drafted nine forwards, five defencemen and two goaltenders.
“This should give them the drive and motivation to work hard this summer and get ready for main camp in August. Many current Barrie Colts attended this rookie skate and have carried it onto great careers within our organization. We are looking forward to seeing a very competitive game,” added Drinkill.
We welcome all Colts fans to attend this event as they will have their first chance to see Barrie’s first round pick Givani Smith, who went 13th overall in the 2014 OHL Priority selection draft. The Camp will also include prospects Rocky Kaura, Drew Worrad, Sam Dunn and Barrie, Ontario native Matthew Brassard.
Admission is free.
