Weekend Recap: Hemming Returns Strong, Aitcheson Delivers in Back-to-Back OT Wins
It was a statement week for the Barrie Colts, who played three games over the weekend, highlighted by the return of Emil Hemming, clutch performances, and consecutive wins.
The week began on Wednesday in Brantford against the Bulldogs, where the Colts received a major boost with Hemming’s return from the Texas Stars (AHL). Hemming made an immediate impact, scoring twice in his first game back. With the score tied 4–4 after regulation, Kashawn Aitcheson once again came through in the clutch, netting the overtime winner to secure the victory for Barrie.
Back on home ice Thursday at Sadlon Arena, the Colts carried their momentum into a matchup against the Sarnia Sting, with goals from Joe Salandra, Alex Assadourian, and Aitcheson helping to push the team to another overtime win. Arvin Jaswal stood tall in the net, earning Third Star of the Game for his stellar performance.
The week wrapped up Saturday with a 4–2 victory over the Erie Otters, featuring goals from Brad Gardiner, Cole Beaudoin, and a two-goal performance from Aitcheson. It was a strong stretch of play that highlighted Barrie’s depth, resilience, and scoring talent.
