Weekend Preview: Mar. 5-9
The end of the regular season is on the horizon but the Colts first hit the road for a three-game and five-day road trip. Kashawn Aitcheson is looking at etching himself into the Colts’ record book this weekend, only needing to score two more goals to set a new franchise record for most goals by a defenceman in a single season.
Thursday, March 6th at Saginaw:
The two teams square off for the second time this season after meeting last Thursday night in Barrie. The Colts won last week’s contest with an overtime winner from Kashawn Aitcheson. The last time the Colts visited the Dow Event Centre on February 3rd, 2024, the Spirit walked away with a 4-3 victory. The Colts will look to take advantage of their powerplay with the Spirit leading the league with 925 PIMs.
Friday, March 7th at SOO:
The Greyhounds are in a fight for the postseason and enter Friday night’s contest in a battle with the Owen Sound Attack and Sarnia Sting for crucial points in the Western Conference. Dalyn Wakely returns to the Colts lineup after missing the previous four games with a suspension. The last win for the Colts at the GFL Memorial Gardens was October 15th, 2022, where Carter Lowe recorded his first career OHL goal. The Greyhounds have yet to play a game in March with Friday being their first and the Colts’ third of the month.
Sunday, March 9th at Sudbury:
The afternoon matinee at the Sudbury Community Centre will be the final meeting of the two Central Division rivals for the regular season. The two have played seven previous times this season, the Colts winning five but the Wolves winning the last two.
