A New Era Begins: John Careri Welcomed as Owner and President of the Barrie Colts

The Barrie Colts welcomed a packed barn at the Sadlon Arena on Saturday night for the team’s home opener, following a rockin’ Fan Fest that brought players, families and fans together ahead of puck drop!

Careri also owns the defending Buckland Cup champion Toronto Patriots (OJHL) and Everest Academy. That comprehensive background gives him an integrated perspective on cultivating elite talent both on and off the ice.

The transition was celebrated Saturday night at Sadlon Arena, where Careri took part in the ceremonial puck drop before an electric, packed home opener crowd.

“Standing at center ice and feeling the passion in that building was unforgettable,” said Careri. “Colts Country is legendary for its loyalty, but hearing that roar firsthand solidified what a privilege it is to lead this historic franchise.”

From day one, Careri’s focus has centred on establishing a championship standard that resonates throughout the entire organization.

“Our priority is establishing an elite culture from the top down,” Careri emphasized. “We are here to win and elevate this program in every facet. That means providing our players, coaches, and staff with the premier resources to succeed, while ensuring our athletes grow as leaders and role models in the community.”

Looking ahead, Careri is committed to collaborating closely with the City of Barrie to explore fan-experience upgrades at Sadlon Arena—anchored by the long-term ambition of bringing the Memorial Cup to Barrie and showcasing the city on Canadian junior hockey’s grandest stage.

With a modern vision focused on player development, arena enhancements, and community pride, a new era of Colts hockey is officially underway.

The future is bright in Barrie, and John Careri is ready to lead the Colts into their next chapter.
