2019 Barrie Colts Sponsor Lunch
Can you believe that another season has almost gone by? Neither can we, as we celebrated another Sponsor thank you lunch Tuesday afternoon.
The Barrie Colts love to invite all of the sponsors of the team in once a year for lunch as a small token of their appreciation for supporting the hockey team each and every year. “It’s amazing how many sponsors come back each and every year to support us and of course the new clients we bring in each year as well, we really couldn’t do it without you” said Barrie Colts Co-Owner and V.P of Business Development and Marketing.
The highlight of this years Sponsor Lunch was the surprise presentation of two $10,000 cheques coming from the Barrie Colts Community Fund to the charities of “Seniors Wish” and “Team Wishes”. Two magnificent charities that make dreams come true.
Firstly is Seniors Wish, which is a charity that grants wishes to senior citizens that may be struggling and have that one last wish. A charity that was founded in 2011 by Barb Richards, has been so successful and has helped grant so many wishes (some with the help of the Barrie Colts) and put so many smiles on seniors faces around Simcoe County. The Barrie Colts surprised them with a cheque of $10,000 to help go towards granting more and more wishes for the senior community in Simcoe County. For more information about Seniors Wish, you can visit their website at www.aseniorwish.com or check out their Facebook Page: Senior Wish Association or on Twitter @SeniorWishAssoc
Secondly, there is Team Wishes who help grant wishes to kids who are sick and that may feel alone. Another unbelievable charity started up and surprisingly enough one of the founders of the charity, Kayla (white scarf) has suffered through her own struggles growing up and still does, yet puts in all this hard work to gather donations to help grant wishes to other children who are suffering. A selfless act that’s gone a long way in their four years of operation. Each wish through Team Wishes is $3,500 for the child and over their four years have raised over $80,000 which is equivalent to nearly 23 wishes. The Barrie Colts have donated to this charity in the past through “Starlight Children’s Foundation” and Tuesday made another donation of $10,000.
If you would like to donate to Team Wishes or possible buy something in their online auction, please visit www.teamwishes.org or on their Facebook Page: Team Wishes Auction
Two donations to unbelievable charities and another amazing day spent with sponsors, is a day well spent in Colts Country. Can’t wait to see everyone at our game Thursday night as we play host to the Ottawa 67’s.
