Alex DeBrincat’s 4 Point Night Leads Otter’s Past Colts
Otters’ Alex DeBrincat’s 4 point night sends the Colts to Niagara looking for answers after a 5-2 victory.
It was a shaky first period for the Colts who fell behind 3-0 before the end of the frame. It all started with a costly turnover on a Barrie powerplay that Taylor Raddysh was able to turn quickly on. David Ovsjannikov was forced to make a big stop but had no chance on a juicy rebound that DeBrincat put home shorthanded to make it 1-0.
Less than 2 minutes later it was Chicago’s 2nd round pick in last years draft making the Colts pay again. DeBrincat took a centering feed from Taylor Raddysh and snapped it home to extend the Erie lead.
Penalty trouble has been a problem for the Colts early in the season and it continued. Aidan Brown took a blindside penalty and Erie took advantage. A point shot from Darren Raddysh was tipped in front by Kyle Petit past the Colts’ 19 year old netminder to give the home team a comfortable 3-0 lead after one.
The 2nd period wasn’t much better for the boys in blue. Under 2 minutes into the frame Taylor Raddysh snapped home Erie’s 4th goal of the game. Raddysh was found driving to the net by Kyle Maksimovich to set him up for his 10th goal of the season. DeBrincat once again found his way on the scoresheet as he recorded the second assist on the goal.
He wasn’t done either, recording his 4th point of the game on Brett Neuman’s 4th goal of the season. Otter’s were not missing on this night building up a 5-0 lead.
The Colts would strike however. At the 15:34 mark on the powerplay, Roy Radke found Giordanno Finoro for his 1st goal of the season. Matt Brassard also picked up an assist on the play.
The 3rd period began how the 2nd period ended, with a Colts powerplay goal. Anthony Stefano took a pass from Justin Murray and absolutely stepped into one and hammered it home past the Otter’s netminder making the game 5-2.
Unfortunately that was as close as the Colts could get on this night as they head to Niagara, looking to get back in the win column on Friday night.
With the win, Erie improves their impressive home record to 7-1-0-0.
