COLTS MAKE THREE SELECTIONS IN THE OHL U18 DRAFT
Following the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, The OHL U18 Draft was held on Wednesday, June 9th at 12pm. Overall, the Colts made three selections.
In round 1 with the 8th overall pick, the Barrie Colts selected goaltender Jacob Gorinksy from the Oakville Rangers U18.
“Gorinsky is a big, athletic goalie that has worked hard to hone his skills over the past season”, said Colts Assistant General Manager, Rob Stewart.
In round 2 with the 33rd overall pick, the Barrie Colts selected forward Connor Koropatnicki from the Hamilton Huskies U18.
“Connor Koropatnicki is a big, hard-nosed winger with a good scoring touch that produced good numbers on a top U16 team in 2019”, commented Stewart.
In round 3 with the 45th overall pick, the Barrie Colts selected, at defence, James McGregor from the Vaughan Kings U18.
“McGregor is a good skater with a heavy shot that brings good physicality to the back-end”, stated Rob.
In the inaugural OHL U18 Draft in 2017, the Barrie Colts selected Victor Hadfield 1st overall. Hadfield played a total of 124 games as a Colt from 2017-2020, tallying up 33 total points between 10 goals and 23 assists.
The Colts are happy with their selections in both the 2021 OHL Priority Selection and the OHL U18 Draft and are looking forward to the Import Draft scheduled for June 30th.
“We are thrilled with how the draft went for us this year. The players we selected will be great additions to our line-up in the future and fans can look forward to some outstanding new players to watch for the next few years”, said Colts President Howie Campbell.
