The Brantford Bulldogs made a significant statement on Game 2 of home-opener weekend this Saturday, shutting out the Guelph Storm in all three phases of the game with a 6-0 victory.  The tone was set early with Jason Musa (#10) needing just 4:45 to open the scoring, assisted by Aiden Kelly (#66) for the first goal of the game. Aiden Kelly, Brantford's first-round pick, and 20th overall selection in the 2026 OHL Draft waited patiently for his opportunity, and was able to execute it not once, but twice. The first came on a power-play at 11:31 of the first period, when Kelly was able to score his first official goal as a Bulldog, and in the OHL assisted by Camden McCuaig (#20) and Jason Musa (#10). The noise from Kelly’s first goal was still ringing through the Madhouse when he gave the crowd another reason to cheer, finding the net again at 14:53 unassisted. The Bulldogs closed out the first period with a commanding 3-0 lead over Guelph, feeling composed, and far from finished.  There was no sign of the Bulldogs easing off the gas to start the second period. Brantford struck again on a power-play at 17:30, with Brayden Lappalainen (#21) netting his first goal of the game, assisted by Adam Nemec (#23) and Kaden McGregor (#16). At the end of the ice, G Chase Petrova (#30) played his part flawlessly to keep the shutout alive, stopping all 19 SOG until Brantford closed out the second period with a 4-0 lead over Guelph.  Brantford finished out the third, and final period putting the finishing touches on a statement win. At 17:27, Joseph Banas (#34) scored his first goal on a power-play, assisted by Jack Torr (#11) and Jean-Samuel Daigneault (#3). Less than a minute later at 18:15, Matthew Hlacar (#81) added to the scoreboard once again, assisted by Adam Nemec (#23) and David Buchman (#71), rounding out the final scoring at 6-0 Bulldogs. The Brantford Bulldogs secured their first regular-season win against the Niagara IceDogs in an electric 3-1 victory.  With the Madhouse momentum on their side, Xavier Lieb (#17) captured the energy two minutes into the first period and scored the first goal for Brantford, and his first official goal as a Bulldog, assisted by Brayden Lappalainen (#21) and George Komadoski (#2). The Bulldogs held tight throughout the first period until 3:44, when Layne Gallacher (#73) and Wil McFadden (#12) connected to Noah Read (#93) for the goal, tying Brantford and Niagara 1-1, which would carry into the end of the first intermission, SOG totalling 13 for Niagara, and 12 for Brantford.  Brantford opened the second period hoping to take a shot at a lead in the scoreboard, however it proved difficult as three costly trips to the box handed Niagara three opportunities to score on a power-play. Brantford refused to break, significantly Jet Kwajah (#26), Cullen McCrate (#53) and G Vilmer Salen Forsberg (#29) who denied Niagara any, and all opportunity to score with the advantage of the power-play, at 7  stops in the second, 19 total. The scoreboard held steady at 1-1 the entire twenty period period, with hopes to make a change going into the second intermission to tackle the third, and final period.  Brantford and Niagara entered onto the ice in the third period, both searching for the go-ahead goal to break the 1-1 deadlock that was stagnant since the first period. Brantford would make the statement, twice. Xavier Lieb (#17), with his second goal of the night would be the deal-breaker, assisted by Joey Banas (#34) and George Komadoski (#2). Brantford Bulldogs President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Spencer Hyman today announced the acquisition of 2025 18^th overall OHL Priority Draft selection Aleksandr Semenstsov from the Barrie Colts in exchange for OSH 5^th ’28.   Sementsov, of St. Petersburg, RUS, moved across the world in 2023 to join the Toronto Red Wings U15 AAA side where the talented winger posted 17 goals & 20 assists for 37 points in 37 GTHL league games. The 2024-25 season was the North American breakout for the 5’11”/176lbs winger, joining the Halton Hurricanes U16 AAA program and dominating U16 AAA competition both in OMHA league play, with 21 goals & 55 assists for 76 points in 34 league games, and overall with an eye-popping 51 goals & 85 assists for 136 points across 69 games while skating to a remarkable plus-88 rating. Sementsov continued to dominate in the OMHA playoffs with 3 goals & 5 assists for 8 points in 6 games & 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points in 4 OHL Cup games while skating to a plus-4 rating.   Sementsov’s incredible stat line with the Hurricanes program led to his 18^th overall selection by the Colts in 2025. Working his towards a veteran team, Sementsov spent the majority of his 16-year-old season with the Newmarket Hurricanes of the OJHL where he impressed in his first taste of junior hockey with 6 goals & 15 assists for 21 points in 42 games. The Brantford Bulldogs have today announced the team’s leadership group for the 2026-27 season. Jack Good, Camron Hankai, Jet Kwajah & Kaden McGregor have all been named Assistant Captains ahead of the beginning of the season on Friday night.   Good, the oldest of the group as a 2006 born, is from Pickering, ON and takes an assistant captain role in his first season in the Ontario Hockey League after a very productive pair of seasons with the Brooks Bandits that including winning back to back BCHL Championships and scoring the Championship goal in 2026. Good made a positive first impression with the Bulldogs in pre-season scoring a goal and adding a pair of assists for 3 points in 3 games while skating to a plus-2 rating after scoring 70 points in 54 games in Brooks last season. Good holds a commitment to Merrimack College following his time with the Bulldogs.   Hankai, the most experienced OHLer of the group skated in 36 games for the Bulldogs last season and in 6 playoff games, recording 2 goals & 6 assists for 8 points with a plus-1 rating. Holding a commitment to Bowling Green State University, the Simcoe product has excelled at every level, including 51 points in 55 games for the Haliburton County Huskies of the OJHL in the 2024-25 season. The 6’2”/205lbs left-shot rearguard plays the game with a physical element that makes him miserable to square off againt while showing an ability to jump into the rush at any moment.   Kwajah, arrived to the Bulldogs from the Madison Capitols where he posted 27 points over 55 games in the 2025-26 season in the USHL. The 6’0”/180lbs right-shot blueliner combines explosive on ice skill with exceptional character and spent the pre-season skating on the Bulldogs top defensive pair alongside Abe Barnett. Slated for the Penn State University Nittany Lions, the ’08 born Etobicoke product produced 3 assists across 4 pre-season games while skating to a plus-5 rating.   McGregor, the junior of the leadership group, arrived in Brantford in the blockbuster trade of the off-season with the Peterborough Petes. McGregor the #1 overall pick in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection Draft has been a dominant force at every level at which he’s skated. The 6’0”/181lbs left-shot centerman from Braeside, ON collected an eye popping 82 points in 29 HEO U16 league games adding another 24 points in 9 playoff games leading to his selection. Spending the last three seasons at the legendary Shattuck St. Mary’s prep-school, Chen impressed at the U16 AAA level in the 2023-24 level posting 20 goals & 14 assists for 34 points in 53 games before breaking out at the U18 level. The 2024-25 season was a revelation for Chen, skating for Shattuck’s U18 AAA side, the 5’11”/175 right shot winger struck for 45 goals & added 51 assists for 96 points in 58 games adding another 8 points in 5 games at the U18 Nationals.   Chen graduated to play entirely with the Prep side at Shattuck in 2025-26 and adjusted his game to be a responsible and trusted two way player for the Saints while still chipping in on the offensive side. Corovic helped deliver Cushing their first NEPSAC Elite Eight Varsity Championship posting a .912 save percentage over 28 games in the 2024-25 season.   Corovic moved to the OJHL for the 2025-26 season with the Collingwood Blues, posting the top stat line in the league with a 1.66/.942 combination, taking home Best Goaltender & Top Prospect honours. Christini’s performace shouldn’t be too surprising following a tremendous pair of seasons with the Bishop Kearney Selects at the 14U & 15U levels. Posting 21 goals 50 assists for 71 points with the 14U side across 44gp in 2024-25, adding 6 points in 4 games at the 14U Nationals. Christini improved his numbers in his draft season, striking for 29 goals to go along with 49 assists for 78 points in 45gp.   Arriving in Brantford with a mission through camp and into the pre-season, Christini recorded a pair of goals and an assist in 3 games while putting 7 shots on goal and skating to a plus-3 rating.   Though he stands 5’6”/146, the electric right-winger will remind long time Bulldogs fans of similar young upstarts in Avery Hayes & George Diaco and similar to Diaco’s beginning, Christini will begin his junior career on assignment with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the OJHL.   “Bo Christini is proof that every pick matters.” said Hyman. “After being selected 201st overall, he came to camp determined to earn this opportunity, and that is exactly what he did.
