BULLDOGS ACQUIRE TESTA, LLOYD & DRAFT SELECTION FROM KNIGHTS
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. Hamilton Bulldogs Interim General Manager Matt Turek today announced the acquisition of forward Luca Testa, defenseman Carson Lloyd and a 2nd Round Draft Selection in 2026 from the London Knights in exchange for forwards Ryan Winterton & Ryan Humphrey.
Testa, a native of Grimsby, was the 15th overall choice in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection Draft. Entering the OHL off a tremendous 2021-22 season that saw the 6’0’’, 172lbs center collect 34 goals & 25 assists for 59 points in 22 games for the Niagara North Stars U16 AAA, adding 6 goals and 6 assists for 12 points in 6 playoff games. Testa also stepped up to the GOJHL level with the St. Catharines Falcons recording 17 points in 18 playoff games helping the Falcons to capture the 2022 Sutherland Cup. Starting the 2022-23 season in London, Testa has recorded 1 goal & 2 assists in 15 games. Testa also represented Canada at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge collecting 3 assists in 5 games.
Lloyd, a product of Toronto, was originally taken with the 58th overall selection in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection Draft. The fleet-footed 5’10”, 170lbs rearguard has split the last year and a half between the London Knights, Georgetown Raiders (OJHL) & London Nationals (GOJHL) Selected to the OJHL Prospects game in 2022 Lloyd brings an exciting future to Hamilton’s blueline.
Winterton & Humphrey both came to the Bulldogs in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection draft where Winterton was selected in the 1st round, 8th overall while Humphrey was taken in the 8th round, 150th overall. Both Winterton and Humphrey played key roles in the Bulldogs 2022 OHL Championship with Humphrey playing all 68 regular season games, recording 62 points, and all 19 playoff games. Winterton returned just prior to the midway point from an off-season to have a spectacular season and playoff posting 20 goals and 46 points in 37 games in season while adding another 19 points in 18 playoff games.
