Selection process set
NORTH BAY, Ont. — The North Bay Battalion will exercise the sixth overall pick after the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection gets under way at 7 p.m. Friday.
Three of 15 rounds are to be held Friday night before the remaining 12 start at 9 a.m. Saturday. North Bay holds 15 picks in the process, primarily for 2009-born prospects, after a selections-only trade window closed at 3 p.m. Thursday.
The 20 OHL teams will select in reverse order of the overall standings from 2024-25, with the four non-playoff teams picking in the first round in accordance with the results of a weighted lottery. The Peterborough Petes hold the first selection, followed by the Guelph Storm, Ottawa 67’s and Sarnia Sting. The Owen Sound Attack selects fifth.
Battalion personnel began assembling Thursday, with those already in North Bay holding a meeting at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens.
Fans can follow the proceedings, coverage of which will be produced at a YourTV studio in Burlington, Ont., for free across the OHL’s YouTube, X and Facebook channels in addition to OHL Live on CHL TV.
Coverage will be on community YourTV, Rogers TV and Eastlink channels, as well as the Rogers Super Sports Pak, on Friday night, before YourTV and Eastlink continue Ontario-wide through Saturday.
Sarnia play-by-play announcer Terry Doyle will host the Priority Selection show, joined by play-by-play voice Mark McKelvie of the Owen Sound Attack and Darrell Woodley, director of OHL central scouting, on the desk.
OHL commissioner Bryan Crawford is to announce first-round selections in the process, in which teams will be connected remotely to a league command centre.
