TORONTO<\/strong> \u2013 The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) today announced that 268 graduates used their OHL Scholarship at post-secondary institutions during the 2025-26 academic year. OHL member teams have contributed more than $42 million to the OHL Scholarship Program since 2010.<\/p>\n

OHL graduates continued to compete at the game’s highest levels this past season, with 148 skating in U SPORTS men’s hockey and 78 opening the campaign on NCAA Division I rosters. An additional 18 accessed their OHL Scholarship while playing professionally.<\/p>\n

Centrally administered through the OHL Office, OHL Scholarships are funded by OHL member teams. Every player who plays in the OHL is eligible to receive an OHL Scholarship. The OHL graduate can use their scholarship toward an undergraduate degree or diploma at any post-secondary institution worldwide or toward approved career-advancement programs.<\/p>\n

In addition to alumni accessing their OHL Scholarship following graduation from the League, all current OHL players are encouraged to enrol in post-secondary courses with costs fully covered by OHL member teams. Team investment in scholarships accessed by current OHL players was more than $530,000 during the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n

“The OHL Scholarship Program has long been a hallmark of what the league is all about,” said OHL Commissioner Bryan Crawford. “Players have the opportunity to grow their game in the number one development league in the world, but that’s really just the beginning. The education of our players is something that the league and its teams take great pride in as we continue to send players to both the National Hockey League, U SPORTS men’s hockey programs and new this past season, the NCAA men’s hockey circuit. The OHL remains committed to developing well-rounded individuals on and off the ice.”<\/p>\n

This year, 193 of the 268 OHL Scholarship recipients are furthering their education at Canadian universities. A total of 133 are attending Ontario-based universities, with the University of Guelph leading all post-secondary institutions at 13 OHL graduates enrolled in full-time studies, while 11 are enrolled at each of Queen’s University, Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Ottawa. A total of 60 OHL graduates are attending universities in Eastern Canada, led by the University of New Brunswick with 15.<\/p>\n

A total of 19 OHL Scholarship recipients are attending Ontario-based colleges, with Fanshawe, Humber, Lambton, Loyalist and St. Lawrence College each featuring two alumni.<\/p>\n

The OHL also recognized its top academic performers from the 2025-26 season at the OHL Awards Ceremony at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto last week.<\/p>\n

Saginaw Spirit defenceman Levi Harper captured the Bobby Smith Trophy as Scholastic Player of the Year, posting a 93.2 per cent average while completing his high school requirements a full year early.<\/p>\n

Barrie Colts forward Brad Gardiner earned the Roger Neilson Memorial Award as the OHL’s Top Academic Post-Secondary Student, recording a 90 per cent average through American Public University.<\/p>\n

Guelph Storm forward Mark Pape was named winner of the Ivan Tennant Memorial Award as the League’s Top Academic High School Student after finishing with a 98.8 per cent average in his Grade 10 studies.<\/p>\n

Owen Sound Attack<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Owen Sound Attack are the recipients of the 2025-26 OHL Largest Corporate Partner Revenue Increase Award after delivering exceptional growth across their corporate partnership portfolio. The club achieved a year-over-year increase of more than 50 per cent in corporate partner revenue while generating substantial growth in arena inventory sales and increasing the value of its average partnership agreements. Owen Sound’s average cash sponsorship deal now ranks among the top three in the Ontario Hockey League, reflecting the organization’s success in building meaningful and valuable relationships with its corporate partners. Through a strategic and results-driven approach to sponsorship sales, the Attack established themselves as one of the league’s top-performing business operations during the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n

OHL Rivalry Week Engagement Award<\/h3>\n

Flint Firebirds \/ Saginaw Spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Flint Firebirds and Saginaw Spirit share the 2025-26 OHL Rivalry Week Engagement Award for their continued success in building the I-75 Divide Cup into one of the league’s premier rivalry properties. Fueled by geography, history and community pride, the initiative featured a dedicated rivalry trophy, enhanced game presentation elements, coordinated marketing campaigns and compelling content that amplified excitement throughout Rivalry Week. Together, the two organizations created a marquee event that drove fan engagement, social conversation and community interest before, during and after each matchup.<\/p>\n

OHL Best Game Presentation Award<\/h3>\n

Under the leadership of Mark Million, Peterborough has played an important role in driving merchandise growth, strengthening purchasing power across the league and supporting initiatives that contribute to the continued success of the Ontario Hockey League.<\/p>\n

OHL Community Involvement Award<\/h3>\n

Kitchener Rangers<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kitchener Rangers are the recipients of the 2025-26 OHL Community Involvement Award in recognition of an extraordinary year of fundraising and community impact. Through initiatives including game day 50\/50 draws, game-worn jersey raffles and a variety of special events, the Rangers raised nearly $2 million while setting an OHL record with a 50\/50 jackpot approaching $150,000. The organization’s efforts allowed it to provide community impact grants to 16 local organizations and award 19 scholarships to graduating high school students, demonstrating a lasting commitment to supporting the Kitchener-Waterloo community.<\/p>\n

OHL Largest Ticket Revenue Increase Award<\/h3>\n

Ottawa 67’s<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ottawa 67’s are the recipients of the 2025-26 OHL Largest Ticket Revenue Increase Award after achieving the league’s largest year-over-year percentage increase in ticket revenue. The growth was fueled by strong performance across multiple ticketing categories, including significant gains in single-game sales, partial season memberships and group ticket sales. Ottawa also ranked among the league leaders in average group ticket revenue per game, demonstrating the organization’s success in attracting and engaging fans throughout the season.<\/p>\n

OHL Franchise Development Award<\/h3>\n

Windsor Spitfires<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Windsor Spitfires are the recipients of the 2025-26 OHL Franchise Development Award in recognition of outstanding growth across multiple areas of the business. The club achieved significant increases in both corporate partnership and ticket revenue while continuing to strengthen fan engagement through creative promotions and themed events. From innovative initiatives such as cash drops and Elvis-themed weddings to a strong commitment to hospitality for league partners and guests, the Spitfires demonstrated excellence across all facets of their business operation throughout the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Attack Captain, Pierce<\/span> Mbuyi, and forwards, Cole Zurawski and Wesley Royston were invited to represent Owen Sound at this year’s NHL Combine which features 90 of the best draft eligible players for the upcoming NHL Draft in Buffalo. The Attack players showed impressively at the combine, managing to finish within the top ten on ten different NHL fitness tests, being named a total of twelve times combined across the leaderboards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Below is a recap of the individual tests including the top results from the three players.<\/p>\n

The athlete adjusts a hand grip dynamometer to his hand size, fully extends his arm and squeezes the dynamometer as forcefully as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ontario Hockey League Draft season kicks off tonight with the 2026 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection. \u00a0The Owen Sound Attack hold the 8th, 28th and 48th (if necessary) selections \u00a0The draft will take place on line starting at 7pm, tomorrow, Monday June 8th, 2026. Making the first overall selection in the Under-18 draft will be the Oshawa Generals.<\/p>\n

The NCAA rule changes from a year ago, could make this year’s Under-18 Draft more interesting than in the past. \u00a0The changes created a larger pool of players available to teams in the Priority Selection (Under-16) and as such a number of players did not hear their names called and may be available in the coming years of this draft. \u00a0The Attack will look to try and find the success they had early on with this draft where they selected Griffin Wilson, Logan LeSage and traded for Kaleb Pearson from Flint.<\/p>\n

“Our team’s U18 draft will focus on adding depth at every position and reinforcing the core of our roster” said Attack Head Scout Sean Murphy. \u00a0“We’re targeting players who bring greater speed, skill and competitiveness to elevate our team’s overall identity and long-term potential.”<\/p>\n

The Owen Sound Attack released today a list of winners from the 2025\/26 Surveys taken in April of 2026. The Bears invited fans to share their voices as part of a new feedback initiative aimed at enhancing the game-day experience and strengthening the connection between the team and its supporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeedback from our fans in paramount to our success as an organization\u201d said Attack Manager, Marketing and Communications, Greg Hoddinott. \u00a0\u201cWe want to thank all of our fans that took the time to fill out the surveys, we look forward to going through the results and trying to improve the fan experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those who have won are encouraged to come pick their prizes up at the MacVicar and McComb Sutton Realty Attack Box Office located in the lobby of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Box office hours are Monday through Friday from 9AM to 4PM.<\/p>\n

“Caden Bell has emerged as a promising young right-shot defenseman who had a standout year with the St. Catharines Falcons in the GOHL,” \u00a0said team President and General Manager Tyler Nother, “When we were evaluating our roster, there was a need to strengthen the right side of our D-Core. To add a player with Caden’s two-way upside is very exciting, and we look forward to assisting Caden in his development on and off the ice.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bell, 17, was drafted 49th overall in the 2025 draft by the IceDogs. The Scarborough, Ontario native spent this past season with the St. Catharines Falcons of the GOJHL where he had 40 points in 46 regular season games and 11 points in 16 playoff games. Bell was selected for the GOHL (Eastern) All-Rookie Team, the GOHL U18 team for St. Andrew’s College MacPherson Challenge Tournament and was\u00a0 invited to participate in the GOHL Top Prospects Game at OHL’s Connor McDavid Top Prospects event.<\/span><\/p>\n

OWEN SOUND, ON \u2013 The Owen Sound Attack announced today a transaction with the Brantford Bulldogs. The Attack will acquire goaltender Ryerson Leenders and a conditional\u00a0 pick in 2028 in exchange for a 5th Round Pick in 2026 (OS), Cond. 2nd Round Pick in 2027 (SOO), Cond. 4th Round Pick in 2027 (OSH) and the rights to Jet Kwajah (08) to the Brantford Bulldogs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leenders, a 6-foot-1-inch, 179 pound, 2006 born goaltender, was traded to the Bulldogs from the Steelheads ahead of the start of the 2025-26 season. The <\/span>Nanticoke<\/span>, Ontario native has played in 168 games over the past four seasons registering a 0.904 save percentage facing 5172 shots on goal.<\/span><\/p>\n
