[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]OWEN SOUND, ON. \u2013 The Attack will continue their preseason schedule this week with a face-off against the North Bay Battalion on Wednesday night at 7. North Bay will kick off a three-game home-stand that will also include a rematch against the Barrie Colts on Saturday, September 5th at 2pm and will wrap up the home stretch on September 10th against the Brampton Steelheads at 7pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the team continues preparations for the 2026-27 OHL season, the Attack have also announced that the club has re-assigned two players, defencemen, Dawson O\u2019Connor and Turner Stephenson, to their club team Upper Canada College.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The players will continue their development with the following teams:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]OWEN SOUND, Ont. \u2014 <\/b>\u00a0The Owen Sound Attack have announced the hiring of Ben Csiernik as the organization\u2019s new Director of Analytics & Hockey Research.<\/span><\/p>\n

Csiernik joins the Attack with a strong background in hockey, athlete sport science, data analytics and academic research, bringing a unique combination of practical hockey experience and evidence-based analysis to the organization. His extensive work in the areas of athlete monitoring and hockey analytics has included collecting and analyzing game-event data, developing statistical models and using data to better understand player and team performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Csiernik, an alumnus of the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men\u2019s hockey program, has served as performance consultant, and goaltending coach with his alma mater, while most recently serving as a Sport Science Consultant with the Ridgebacks women\u2019s hockey program.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to his practical experience, Csiernik has an extensive academic and research background. He completed both his undergraduate and Master’s degrees in kinesiology at Ontario Tech and has pursued doctoral research in the university\u2019s Expertise and Skill Acquisition Lab, with a focus on training load measurement and performance evaluation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Csiernik has also conducted research and written on hockey-specific topics including goaltending, athlete development, performance evaluation and the application of data and analytics within hockey.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBen Csiernik is a dedicated academic and a brilliant hockey mind who we are very excited to welcome to our hockey operations department here in Owen Sound,\u201d said Head Coach Keenan Reynolds. \u201cAs Director of Analytics and Hockey Research, Ben will spearhead several internal initiatives aimed at modernizing and innovating how we leverage data to support tactical decision-making, roster deployment, skill acquisition, and all aspects of player development.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In his new role, Csiernik will work closely with the Attack\u2019s hockey operations and coaching staff to develop and implement analytical tools and research initiatives designed to support player evaluation, development, scouting, game preparation and organizational decision-making.<\/span><\/p>\n

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]BARRIE, ON. \u2014<\/b> The Owen Sound Attack played their second back-to-back pre-season game held in Barrie, for the Barrie Showcase, tonight. The Attack, after a hard fought back-and-forth battle against the Colts, took home the win against their rivalry week matchup.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Owen Sound Attack found success early in the first period with Elliot Arnett scoring the first goal of the game in the first twenty-one second after the puck dropped. The Colts responded minutes later with a power play goal from overager Luca Testa, but a tie game did not last long before Wesley Royston put the Attack back in the lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second period started with rookie forward, Alexander Lisi, extending the Attack\u2019s lead with a shorthanded goal assisted by goaltender Matthew Koprowski. The Colts responded to the Attack lead with back-to-back goals from rookie\u2019s, Rocco Olek and\u00a0 Lucas Matheson. However, 2025 fifth overall pick, Max Delisle, put the Attack back in the lead with a power play goal with just 36 seconds left in the second period.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Colts took control of the final period early, with a goal from Dylan Tsherna making it a tie-game once again. Max Delisle responded with his second goal of the night to win the game for the Attack, followed by an insurance goal from veteran forward Cole Zurawski.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was a battle of Veterans for both teams\u2019 goaltenders tonight, Matthew Korpowski played 60 minutes between the pipes for the Attack, making 16 saves on 20 shots, while the Colts had Nico Armellin in their crease made 29 saves on 35 shots<\/span><\/p>\n

The Attack are set to play their first home game at the Bayshore this Wednesday, September 2 at 7:00 pm against the North Bay Battalion. BARRIE, Ont. \u2014<\/strong> The Owen Sound Attack opened their 2026 preseason schedule Saturday afternoon at the Sadlon Arena in Barrie, falling 5-3 to the Oshawa Generals in the opening game of the Barrie Showcase. \u00a0Finding the back of the net for the Attack were Max Fransen, Wesley Royston and Alex Taylor, while the Colts responded with goals Kane Cloutier, who had two on the afternoon, Nick Voisey, Caden Taylor and Tyler Hinde.<\/p>\n

Special teams were a factor in this game with the Generals going 4-for-8 with the extra skater, while the Attack were 1-for-6 on the power play but also added a shorthanded marker off the stick of Royston.<\/p>\n

Sixteen year old goaltender Mitchell Nouwens played the entire for the Bears, making 34 saves on 29 shots, while Cruz Reznik and Jaden Cholette split the game for the Generals. \u00a0Reznik played the first two periods allowing 3 goals on 20 shots, while Cholette made all four saves he needed to in the third period.<\/p>\n

The Attack will remain in Barrie for their second preseason contest of the weekend, taking on the Barrie Colts on Sunday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Sadlon Arena. \u00a0Fans in Owen Sound can catch the game live on Rogers Television Grey County Channel 53.<\/p>\n

OWEN SOUND, Ont.<\/b> \u2014 The Owen Sound Attack are pleased to announce that the club has signed forward Jace Voortman to a Standard Player Development & Education Agreement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Voortman, who was selected in the 3rd round, at 46th overall, by the Attack in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, was a point per game player for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens under-16 AAA program last season. He registered twelve goals and nine assists in twenty-one games, while adding another four points at the OHL Cup.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The forward continues to impress the Attack\u2019s scouting staff with his combination of skill, hockey sense, competitiveness and offensive ability, making him a key addition to the organization\u2019s future.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the Owen Sound Attack, we are extremely excited to welcome Jace and his family to our organization,\u201d said Attack President and General Manager Tyler Nother. \u201cJace is a player with high hockey IQ who has a natural ability to make the players around him better. His playmaking ability, compete level and commitment to playing a strong 200-foot game make him a very valuable addition to our hockey club. We believe Jace has the potential to become an impact player in the Ontario Hockey League and is a strong culture driver within our organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

Voortman is equally excited to officially begin his journey with the Attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roster Notes:<\/b> Attack forward Jacob Therrien continues to recover from the injury he suffered last season, while Caden Taylor remains on loan to the Oshawa Generals until the end of their training camp and Landon Jackman continues to be away from the team for personal reasons. \u00a0Forward Lucian Bernat is currently representing Team Slovakia at the U20 Five-Nations Tournament and is expected to be in Owen Sound September 1st.<\/p>\n

Pre-Season Action<\/b><\/p>\n

Attack fans won\u2019t have to wait long to see their newest Attack players in action, with the team in action this weekend taking on the Oshawa Generals on Saturday, August 29th at 1pm, followed by a rivalry matchup against the Barrie Colts on Sunday, August 30th at 7pm. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]OWEN SOUND, Ont. \u2014<\/span> One hundred years after the Owen Sound Greys captured the Memorial Cup and cemented their place in Canadian hockey history, the Owen Sound Attack are launching a season-long celebration honouring the legendary 1927 championship team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the 2026-27 Ontario Hockey League regular season, the Attack will celebrate the players, coaches and community that helped bring the Memorial Cup to Owen Sound in 1927, while connecting the history of the Greys with the next generation of Attack fans.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 1927 Owen Sound Greys became the first team in Memorial Cup history to win the championship twice, adding to the club’s 1924 title. The Greys captured the Eastern Canadian championship to earn their place in the Memorial Cup final against the Port Arthur West Ends, with the best-of-three series played at Arena Gardens in Toronto.<\/span><\/p>\n

Owen Sound opened the championship series on March 25, 1927, with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Port Arthur. The Greys then completed the series two nights later, when the two teams were knotted at two after regulation time. The Greys proceeded to outscore Port Arthur 3-1 in a ten-minute non-sudden-death overtime period to win the game 5-3 over the West Ends in overtime, cementing the series victory two games to none and claim their second Memorial Cup. Martin Lauder scored a natural hat trick in the third period of Game 1, while Harold “Shrimp” McDougall scored the overtime winner in Game 2.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 1927 Greys championship roster included\u00a0Johnny “Red” Beattie, Benny Grant, John Grant, team captain Martin Lauder, Jack Markle, Harold “Shrimp” McDougall, Alvin Moore, Hillis “Paddy” Paddon and Hedley Smith, with\u00a0Bill Hancock\u00a0serving as coach,\u00a0Father J. Spratt\u00a0as coach and\u00a0A. Bennett\u00a0as manager.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Celebrating the Greys Throughout 2026-27<\/b><\/p>\n

Similar to 2024, as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration, the Attack will don special commemorative 1927 Greys jerseys on 12 occasions through the 2026-27 regular season.\u00a0 The team will sport the light colour cream version during the first half of the season and switch to the black version in the second half.\u00a0 The team also plans to turn all of these games into Owen Sound Greys nights with the team rebranding for these nights. A full schedule of Owen Sound Greys games will be made available once our game jerseys arrive from our supplier, with hopes of a mid-October launch.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Attack will also help fans learn more about the players who made history through features presented in-arena, on the team\u2019s website and across the team social media channels.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]OWEN SOUND, Ont. \u2014 <\/b>After two days of hard fought Development Camp, the Owen Sound Attack announced that they have finalized the club\u2019s 2026 Training Camp roster.\u00a0 A total of 34 players are set to compete at Training Camp for a spot on the opening night roster, including eighteen forwards, twelve defencemen and four goaltenders, with twenty players moving on from Development camp.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All remaining players from Development Camp have been reassigned back to their respective club teams, including two goalies, eight forwards and five defencemen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Training camp will provide returning players, prospects and newcomers with an opportunity to compete for a position on the Attack\u2019s opening-night roster, while the coaching and hockey operations staff evaluate the group throughout camp. A full schedule of on-ice events throughout training camp can be found at the bottom of this release.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roster Notes:<\/b> Attack forwards Jacob Therrien, Caden Taylor and Landon Jackman will not participate in training camp, which gets underway Monday. Therrien continues to rehabilitate from an injury suffered last season, while Jackman will be absent from camp for personal reasons. Caden Taylor has been loaned to the Oshawa Generals for the duration of their training camp.<\/span><\/p>\n

Forward Lucian Bernat is currently representing Team Slovakia at the U20 Five-Nations Tournament and will join the team at the start of September.<\/span><\/p>\n

OWEN SOUND, ON – The Owen Sound Attack announced today that forward Nicholas Sykora has de-committed from Quinnipiac University and committed to Western Michigan University of the NCAA. \u00a0He will join the Broncos for the upcoming 2026-27 collegiate season, while the team retains his playing rights in the Ontario Hockey League.<\/p>\n

Attack President and General Manager, has been in discussions with Nick throughout the summer and had this to say about his decision today.<\/p>\n

“Over the course of the summer we had excellent discussion with Nick Sykora. Nick was very excited about the new direction taking place with our organization, but ultimately felt that College Hockey was his next step this season when a new opportunity presented itself” said Nother. \u00a0“On behalf of the entire Owen Sound Attack organization, we would like to congratulate Nick on his commitment and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”<\/p>\n
