CHL Alumni Spotlight: Sean Durzi
A former 12th round OHL Priority Selection choice who has ascended the ranks to become an NHL regular, Sean Durzi‘s career has been marked by perseverance.
Now 26 years-old, Durzi patrols the blueline for the Utah Hockey Club in their first NHL season but was limited to four games before undergoing shoulder surgery in October. He’s now in his fourth NHL campaign having previously spent time with the LA Kings and Arizona Coyotes, originally being selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft.
Durzi wrapped-up his OHL career with a championship as a member of the Guelph Storm in 2018-19. He previously spent parts of four seasons with the Owen Sound Attack, joining Guelph in a deal that also included star forward Nick Suzuki heading to the Royal City. In 180 regular season games, Durzi recorded 38 goals, 102 assists and 140 points along with a plus/minus rating of plus-68.
Durzi had the opportunity to play in the 2019 Memorial Cup held in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he was named to the tournament all-star team, producing seven points (2-5–7) in four games.
