Attack Drop Pre-Season Opener 3-0 in Barrie
The Owen Sound Attack opened the 2023 pre-season with their annual Labour Day game in Barrie against the Colts. In the first game of the new hockey year the Attack decided to test some of their younger players, resting 6 veteran players including Sam Sedley, Landen Hookey, Cedrick Guindon, Servac Petrovsky, Taos Jordan and Colby Barlow. The young bears put in a valiant effort but fell to their highway 26 foes 3-0.
Game Highlights:
- Corbin Votary and Carter George split the game in net
- Votary made 16 save on 18 shots in 30 minutes of play
- George made 7 saves on 7 shots in just under 30 minutes of play
- Cole Beaudoin opened the scoring for Barrie on the Powerplay late in the first period, then added an empty netter late in the third period.
- Jaiden Newton made it 2-0 for the Colts early in the 2nd period.
- Kaleb Lawrence had 8 shots, while Ethan Burroughs and Ben Cormier had 5 shots a piece in the shutout loss.
Up next for the Attack is another pre-season match up on the road, this time against the North Bay Battalion at North Bay Memorial Gardens on Sunday, September 10 at 2pm. The first home pre-season game (in Hanover) on September 20 against Barrie is now sold out. A small amount of tickets for this game may be released to the public on Monday, September 18 once player ticket lists are received. Tickets for the Attacks lone pre-season game at the Bayshore on September 23 against North Bay are available for sale at the MacVicar & McComb Sutton Realty Attack Box Office.
Please note, due to preparations for the RCMP Musical Ride at the Bayshore next weekend the Attack will be practicing at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre starting Wednesday, September 6 through Thursday, September 21 (end date is subject to change).
