Preview: Attack Tackling Busy Weekend Ahead: Kitchener, North Bay, and Kingston Await
The Owen Sound Attack have a busy weekend ahead with three games in two and a half days on tap. On Friday, the Attack will venture out to the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium to take on the Rangers, before returning to the Bayshore Saturday to host the North Bay Battalion. Both games are at 7 pm. The Bears will finish off the weekend at home with a 2 pm matinee against Cedrick Guindon and the Kingston Frontenacs. Sunday is also the finally IPC Sunday game of the season as well as a giveaway game with the first 3,000 fans receiving a free Attack bracelet.
Friday night’s matchup between the Attack and Rangers marks their 5th meeting of the season with the Rangers having taken three of the four previous meetings. Both teams head into game having won three of their last five games, with the Attack on a two game winning streak, while the Rangers are looking to get back in the win column after losing their last two. The Attack will look to build on the momentum from last weekend’s victorious weekend, gaining four crucial points in the standings. The Bears currently sit two points away from the 8th-place spot in the Western Conference.
Saturday night’s matchup with the Battalion will be the only visit of the regular season for the Battalion to the Bayshore and their second game of the season. The two teams last faced off in October at the North Bay Memorial Gardens, with the final score being 4-2 in favour of the Battalion. Both teams are right behind the 8th-place spot in their Conferences, making this matchup key for both teams. The Attack are also partnering with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Grey Bruce for a mental health awareness game, presented by Syngenta and Grain Farmers of Ontario.
Sunday’s will mark the Attack final weekend matinee of the season as well as the final Investment Planning Counsel Sunday of the season. It also marks the first and likely final visit to the Bayshore for Attack fan favourite Cedrick Guindon and Kingston Frontenacs. The Bears have had the Frontenacs number in recent memory, with the Bears taking three of their last five matchups with the Frontenacs. Fans are reminded that Sunday’s game includes jersey giveaways and a VIP meet and greet opportunity. The first 200 kids into the game will receive a free popcorn and a skate with the team following the game, while the first 3,000 fans will also receive a free Attack bracelet upon entry.
