Preview: A Weekend of Firsts and Returns, Attack Take on Steelheads and Firebirds
The Owen Sound Attack will continue their post-trade deadline adventure with a pair of games this Friday and Saturday night. They want to build on their momentum as the Bears are 2-1 in their last three games. The Bears will travel to the CAA Centre for a matchup against the Konnor Smith and the Brampton Steelheads on Friday night before returning to the to the Bayshore to host Sam McCue and the Flint Firebirds. Both games are scheduled for 7pm. Don’t forget the Attack are giving away Attack Chip n Dip plates to the first 3,000 fans on Saturday night.
Friday night will be the first meeting between the Attack and Steelheads this season and the first since the trade saw Konnor Smith dealt to Brampton. Earning 2 points on Friday night is crucial for both teams with both sitting 4 points away from moving up in the standings. Brampton heads into the weekend just looking to overtake Brantford for sixth place in the Eastern Conference while Owen Sound looks to move into a playoff position by catching Sault Ste. Marie for eighth in the West. Expect a fast-paced, action-packed matchup this Friday night, which can be seen on streamed on CHLtv and heard on 560 CFOS Bear Radio.
Saturday will be the season’s third meeting between the Firebirds and Attack, first at the Bayshore. Saturday will also mark the first time the two teams have met since the trade that saw the Attack acquire Cole Zurawski, while sending Sam McCue to Flint. The Firebirds have come out on top in the previous two meetings with the Attack struggling to find the back of the net. Flint is currently 5 points behind the 5th-place Erie Otters.
Saturday is one of four second half giveaway games with the first 3,000 fans into the Bayshore receiving a free Attack Chip n Dip plate.
