Week 6 of the Ontario Hockey League regular season will see the Owen Sound Attack take on a trio of Western Conference opponents. The Bears will open the week with a Wednesday night battle against the Flint Firebirds at the Bayshore. They will then prepare for back-to back games, first against the Sting in Sarnia on Friday night, then back to the Bayshore for a Saturday night showdown with the London Knights. Both home games are scheduled for 7pm.
Wednesday, November 1, 2023 vs. Flint Firebirds, 7pm
On Wednesday night, the Attack will look to keep the momentum from their 2-0 weekend going when they take on the Flint Firebirds at the Bayshore. The Firebirds come into the Bayshore just two points back of the Attack in the Western Conference standings with a 5-6-1-0 record on the season. Leading the way offensively for the Firebirds has been Zachary Giroux (7G, 6A), Gavin Hayes (6G, 4A) and Braeden Kressler (5G, 5A). Game time is set for 7pm on Wednesday night. Before the game the Attack will honour a trio of Owen Sound North Stars Minor Lacrosse teams that won provincial championships this past summer.
Friday, November 3, 2023 @ Sarnia Sting, 7:05pm
The Attack hit the road on Friday night, heading to the Bee Hive in Sarnia. The Sting have started the season off with some strong play and sit three points ahead of the Attack in the Western Conference standings with a 8-5-0-0 record on the season. To be successful the Bears will need to make sure the trio of Sandis Vilmanis (3G, 13A), Jacob Leblanc (2G, 13A) and Andrew Leblanc (5G, 9A) do not have time and space to set up the Sting offence. Friday night’s game from Sarnia is set for 7:05pm and can be seen on Rogers Grey County channel 53, streamed on CHLtv or heard on 560 CFOS Bear Radio.
Saturday, November 4, 2023 vs. London Knights, 7pm
The Attack will close off their three-game week with a Saturday battle with midwest division rivals the London Knights. The Knights head into the week just one point ahead of the Attack in the Western Conference standing with a record of 7-4-0-1. As always the Knights provide a formidable opponent and the Attack will need to find away to get to overage goaltender Michael Simpson. Similar to the Attack the Knights offer a balanced offensive Attack with Denver Barkey (7G, 9A), Easton Cowan (5G, 7A), Kasepr Halttunen (9G, 2A), Sam Dickinson (3G, 7A) and Oliver Bonk (10A) all registering double digit points on the season.
Saturday night will be Special Olympics Ontario Night at the Bayshore, with Special Olympic Athletes on hand to drop the puck, sing the anthem and on the concourse to talk about the Special Olympic program. Fans can support the cause by participating in thebucket pass during the first period and by visiting the Special Olympics Ontario booth in the south concourse.
Tickets for Wednesday and Saturday’s games can be purchased through the MacVicar & McComb Sutton Realty Attack Box office in person, on the phone at 519-371-7452 or online at tickets.attackhockey.com.
