Bears Set to Close Out Home Stand Against Kitchener & Sudbury
The Owen Sound Attack close out their 5-game homestand this weekend with 2 games a less than 24 hours, first taking on the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday night at 7pm, then taking on the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Saturday is the Attack’s annual Hockey Fights Cancer Fundraising game, while Sunday is the second of four Investment Planning Counsel Sunday’s on the season which will include a skate with the team following the game.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2024 vs. KITCHENER RANGERS, 7PM – HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHT PRESENTED BY BRUCE POWER
The Attack play host to the Kitchener Rangers for the second time this season, having met back on October 5th in which the Rangers came out on top 3-2. The Rangers head into the weekend sporting a 12-2-1-1 record which is good enough for first place in Western Conference standings and are ranked 7th in the Canadian Hockey League top-10 list. The Attack will need to pay close attention to the four players leading the offensive charge for the blueshift’s; Adrian Misaljevic (12-13-19), Cameron Reid (4-15-19), Luca Romano (8-10-18) and Trent Swick (7-11-18). In net Jackson Parsons has had a solid start to his season, sporting a 2.73 goals against average and a 0.905 save percentage. On special teams the Rangers head into the weekend with the leagues seventh best power play converting 25.4% of the time and the league’s fifth best penalty kill at 83%.
Saturday is the Attack’s annual Hockey Fights Cancer game in support of the Bluewater branch of the Canadian Cancer Society with all funds going to support the branches Wheels of Hope transportation program. All Hockey Fights Cancer activities will take place in the south concourse, with a silent auction including NHL jerseys, puck toss sales and I Fight For Signs. The Puck Toss will take place in the second intermission with a customized jersey donated by Driver Seat and a pair of Diamond Ear Rings donated by DC Taylor Jewellers. The team will be wearing commemorative jerseys that are up for auction on Dash as we speak. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2024 vs. SUDBURY WOLVES, 2PM – INVESTMENT PLANNING COUNSEL SUNDAY
The Attack close out their 5-game home stand with a visit from the Sudbury Wolves, who come into the weekend with a 8-6-1-0 record which has them tied for fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are currently led by Kieron Walton (6-13-19), Chase Laughlin (8-4-12) and Nick DeAngelis (3-9-12), and have recently returned San Jose Shark drafted Quentin Musty to their lineup who is always an offensive threat. Nate Krawchuk leads the goaltending tandem for the Wolves with a 2.73 goals against average and 0.922 save percentage on the season. The Sudbury Wolves also boast the leagues best penalty kill heading into the weekend killing off 83.9% off their penalties, while sit 11th in power play at 22.7%.
Sunday is the second Investment Planning Counsel Sunday of the season with lots of activities for kids, including the first 200 kids into the game receiving a free small popcorn coupon. Kids will also have the chance to win while at the game with two kids winning a free Attack jersey and one winning a VIP meet and greet with their favourite player. The best part of an Investment Planning Counsel Sunday is the skate with the team after the game. Fans are encouraged to bring their skates and a CSA approved helmet for everyone under the age of 14 and join the team for a skate after the game followed by a picture with everyone.
