Bears Set to Battle Rangers & Spitfires
The Owen Sound Attack look to build off of their overtime win on Wednesday night when they take on the Kitchener Rangers and Windsor Spitfires this weekend. The Attack will make their first trip to the Aud on Friday night, before hosting the Spitfires on Saturday at the Bayshore. Game times for both games are 7pm. Saturday’s at the Bayshore is Attack Hunger night, presented by IG Wealth Management with Food donations being collected at all entrance gates prior to the game.
The Bears head into the weekend with a 7-12-2-3 record, in 9th place in the Western Conference standings just 2 points back of Sarnia and Flint for 7th. The Attack have started to see more success of late with their continued strong play going 4-4-1-1 in their last 10 games. Landen Hookey (9-16-25) and Sam McCue (16-8-24) continue to lead the offence, while Carter George is coming off possibly his best weekend of games over the season sporting a 0.907 save percentage and 3.27 goals against average. The Attack will need to continue to minimize their time in the penalty box, but when it does happen will need to continue their strong performance while shorthanded that has them sporting the league’s 4th best penalty kill at 83.7-percent.

The Bears will invade the Kitchener Auditorium for the first time this season on Friday night and will look move ahead of the Rangers in their season series, with the Rangers taking the first game 3-2 and the Attack winning the second in over time 5-4. The Rangers come into the contest winners of six of their last 10 games with a record 16-5-2-1 which is good enough for 3rd place in the Western Conference. The blue shirts offence is led by Adrian Misaljevic (13-20-33), Luca Romano (13-12-25) and Trent Swick (11-13-24), while Jackson Parsons has carried most of the workload between the pipes for the Rangers registering a 2.13 goals against average and 0.926 save percentage on the season. On special teams, the Rangers sit middle of the pack in the power play rankings, 8th, converting 24 times on 103 chances, while only allowing their opponents to score 15 of 92 times while shorthanded.

Saturday will mark the third meeting between the Spitfires and Attack this season, with Windsor taking the previous two meetings 4-1 in Owen Sound and 7-5 in Windsor. Like the Rangers, the Spitfires head into the weekend winners of six of their last 10 games and sit tied for 1st in the Western Conference standings with a 18-5-2-0 record. Liam Greentree (14-26-40) and Ilya Protas (15-16-31) pace the Spitfires offence while Joey Costanzo continues to carry the load for Windsor in net with a 2.32 goals against average and 0.918 save percentage. The Attack will see their power play units tested if they go shorthanded on Saturday night, as Windsor has the league 3rd best power play at 27.6-percent and the the league’s 6th ranked penalty kill at 83.1-percent.
