Attack Suffer 6-3 Loss In London
The Attack were back in action Sunday afternoon for their second game showdown against the London Knights. This marked the second game in the Western Conference Quarter Finals for the teams. Falling to a strong push in the first and a final blow in the third, the Attack saw a 6-3 loss to the Knights.
An exploding start to the first period left both teams on the hunt for securing the puck. Carter George would make a few early period saves giving the Attack the pushing start they needed. Falling victim to some far stretched passes, the Attack would be in what seem to be an uphill battle as the Knights put home 4 goals throughout the period. Ending the period in 19 shots against Owen Sound the Attack looked to change strategies in the next steps.
Owen Sound would come out in the second period with a new found strength, making for an intense shift in the Attack’s play. Deep in London territory, the Knights attempted to shoot the puck up and out. Pierce Mbuyi would get a piece of a flying puck, taking advantage of the situation. Making a one-timer shot from the blueline, Mbuyi hammered home a shot right into the back of London’s net. A rush to the London net gave way for another goal opportunity for the Attack. Antonio Tersigni would make a seamless feed to Bruce McDonald with the puck, following suit of the one-timer-wonder straight into the Knights’ net. With a little over 5 minutes remaining in the period Tristan Delisle would get his piece of the action right outside London’s doorstep. Poking the puck in Delisle secured a third goal for the Attack, ending the second period in a 4-3 London score.
With only 20 minutes remaining in the game, there was little room left for error. In such, it was all a play about maintain and pushing. The Attack unfortunately would see little movement against the Knights in the third. A final push by London would see to another two final goals against the Attack, leaving the score at 6-3 London.
