Attack Start Road Trip With Convincing Win
It was a dream start to a 3-game northern road trip for the Owen Sound Attack, as they claimed a convincing 5-2 win over the Barrie Colts Thursday night at the Sadlon Arena.
It all began just over five minutes in when Servac Petrovsky tipped home a point shot that trickled through the Colts goalie. It was the 10th goal of the season for Minnesota Wild prospect, becoming the third Attack player to reach the mark this season. It was exactly two minutes later when Kaleb Lawrence stayed hard in a net front battle, and was rewarded with the puck bouncing to him, at the side of the net. On the Lawrence goal, Attack rookie Antonio Tersigni made a nice heads up play with the puck to find the big forward in front, picking up his first career OHL point.
As the period shifted to the latter ten minutes, it was Cedrick Guindon who found himself with a break-away opportunity, after pressuring the Colts defences men at the blue line. The Montreal Canadiens prospect made no mistake on the one-on-one with the Colts tendy, going five-hole for his 10th of the year, joining Petrovsky, Deni Goure and Colby Barlow for 10 plus goals on the Owen Sound roster.
Guindon would claim his second of the night during the middle frame, wiring home a centring pass from Taos Jordan. Even with the Guindon’s second of the night, the Attack saw their lead shrink to a pair of goals, as the Colts were able to find the back of the net twice during the middle frame.
Though getting a pair in the second, the Colts were unable to get anything in the third period as the Attack played solid lock down team defence, with the mindset of the best defence is a strong offence, outshooting Barrie 13-11 in the final 20 minutes. The game would be sealed when top 2023 NHL Draft Prospect Barlow extended his goal scoring streak to eight game with an empty net tally in the final two minutes.
Owen Sound continue their road trip tomorrow night when they travel to Sudbury for their first meeting with the Wolves in over two seasons. Fans can follow the Attack’s road trip on Roger TV, listen at 560 CFOS Bear Radio or follow Attack social media pages.
