Attack Put an End to Kitchener Rangers 10 Game Winning Streak in Overtime
The Owen Sound Attack would race neck and neck against the Kitchener Rangers on home ice late Saturday night. Winning in overtime, the Attack would find a 5-4 victory over the Rangers, ending Kitcheners 10 game winning streak. Leading the scoring for the Attack was Sam McCue with two goals and an assist followed by Landen Hookey, Antonio Tersigni and Braedyn Rogers all with one goal of their own. In net for the Attack was Goaltender Carter George, who made 31 saves.
Breaking open the scoring early in the first period, Hookey would intercept a Rangers pass making a short-handed goal for the Attack. Kitchener would answer back with a goal of their own late in the first period leaving the score tied 1-1.
Tersigni would make an explosive beginning into the second period corralling the puck into the back of the Rangers’ net, McCue following suite with a goal of his own not two minutes after. The Attack now led with 3-1 having a clear advantage. Halfway through the period fans would see Rogers make his second goal of the 2024 season, assisted by Tristan Delisle and McCue.
Now with three unanswered goals the Attack continued to apply pressure to the Rangers territory. Pivoting, Kitchener would play heavily into the offence bringing them three swift goals putting the final score 4-4 ending the third period.
Overtime began and the pressure was on. Hookey, taking advantage of a Power Play during overtime would rush the Rangers net, swinging the puck over to McCue who woudl find the back of the net 2 minutes into the sudden death.
with a 5-4 score, the Attack solidified they’re second win of the week.
