Attack Out-Duelled by London Knights in 6-4 Game
The Attack were back at the Bayshore Saturday night for a home game against the London Knights. In a hard fought battle, the Attack would fall 6-4 in the final period. Making their scoreboard debut for the night was Cole Zurawski, David Bedkowski, Bruce McDonald, Ben Cormier all will a single goal. In net for the Attack was Carter George making 39 saves of 45 shots.
A dragging first period would leave the Attack high and dry, as the London Knights took the lead 4-0. Coming back strong in the second, the Attack would spark new life into the scoreboard bringing them back into the races. Leading the assault was Zurawski, with a sniper of a shot through the right hand side of the Knights’ net, the Attack now followed 4-1. Bedkowski passing to Harry Nansi from the blueline would set up for a head on shot to London. Passing back the puck, Bedkowski would tip the puck into a unknowing London goalie’s net, earning the Attack their second goal and Bedkowski his first goal of the season. The second period was looking up for Owen Sound but wasn’t done yet. Play was once again brought just outside of the Knights zone where fans would see Zurawski slip the puck to teammate McDonald. McDonald, driving the puck into the net brought another goal for the Attack. The buzzer ringing would sound the end of the second period leaving the score 4-3 with the Attack within one point of tying the score.
Cormier, passing through the London defenses would send the puck tipping into the London net early in the third, securing the Attack a tied 4-4 score with London. A battle of plays between the two teams would leave no room on the ice for error. In a cutting quick second, the Knights managed to pull together their offence finishing off the third period with two additional goals. Final score was in, 6-4 London.
The Bears will look to play Friday Jan 17th at the CAA Centre against the Brampton Steelheads at 7PM. Moving on, they will be back at the bayshore for a Bayshore Brawl against the Flint Firebirds Saturday Jan. 18th at 7PM.
