Attack Make Mid-Week Trek to Erie
Coming off of two tough battles this past weekend, the Owen Sound Attack have no time to rest as they hit the road for a mid-week battle with the Erie Otters on Wednesday night at the Erie Insurance Arena. This will be the first meeting between these two teams this season and will mark the first time Attack overage forward Bruce McDonald has played his former team since the trade earlier this year.
The Attack and Otters come into the game at opposite ends of the standings with the Otters sporting a record of 13-7-2-1 and in 4th place in the Western Conference standings with 29 points, while the Attack come into the game with a record of 6-12-2-3 good enough for 9th place in the Western Conference with 17 points, just two points out of 8th. The Otters offence is led by Pano Fimis (12-21-31), Sam Alfano (13-16-29), and Malcom Spence (11-18-29), while the Attack counter with Sam McCue (16-7-23), who is coming off of back-to-back two goal games, Landen Hookey (9-14-23) and Jame Petrovski (0-13-13). Another battle will ensure in net with Otters goaltender Noah Erliden and Attack goaltender Carter George sporting similar numbers so far this season.
Like most games, this one may be won or lost on special teams and those extra effort plays in each teams end. This game will feature the leagues fourth ranked penalty kill in the Attack, having only given up 13 power play goals on 82 attempts against the league’s fourth ranked power play in the Otters that has been able to capitalize with the extra attacker 23 of 86 times this season.
