Attack Hit Road Against Windsor, Flint and Saginaw
The Owen Sound Attack hit the road for their first weekend swing off the season with three games against the Windsor Spitfires, Flint Firebirds and Saginaw Spirit. They will kick off the weekend in Windsor on Thursday night, then make their way to Flint, Michigan for game two of the week on Saturday night and then close out the weekend in Saginaw on Sunday night.
The first road swing of the season will provide the Attack an opportunity to further bond as a team and test this young squad as they battle through some injuries throughout the lineup. The will look to continue their play aggressive play and strong pressure at both ends of the ice. The Bears will look to newly acquired Alec Leonard to help fill the void and eat up minutes, with Koonor Smith out of the lineup. The Attack are looking for continue offensive growth from the likes of Harry Nansi, Pierce Mbuyi, Jake Crawford and Sam McCue, while receiving continued strong play from the goaltending tandem of Carter George and Matthew Koprowski.
The Attack head into the weekend, in search of revenge against the Spitfires, hoping to atone for a 4-1 loss this past Saturday. The Spitfires sport a 8-1-1-0 record and sit in first place in the Western Conference while the Attack carry a 3-5-1-1 record 9 points back of the Spits. The Attack will need to continue their full-team efforts against the Spitfires and hopefully put an end to successful Spitfire Liam Greentree’s point streak as he collected 11 points in his past three games.
Saturday, the Attack will travel state side for a battle against the Flint Firebirds. The Firebirds come in to the weekend 4-5-0-0 record, just one point ahead of the Attack in 8th place in the Western Conference Standings. The Bears need to beware of Firebirds scoring leaders Christopher Thibodeau (2-8-10), Evan Konyen (4-4-8) and Jimmy Lombardi (4-4-8) while coming up with a solution for Flint goaltender Nathan Day who heads into the weekend with a 2.54 goals-against-average.
Sunday, the Attack will make their way to Saginaw to face the Spirit, who head into the weekend with a 6-3-1-0 record and in fourth place in the Western Conference standings. The Attack’s defensive corps and goaltenders will need to be at the top of their game as they contend with the leagues top goal scorer Michael Misa who has 15 goals and 7 assists and Kristian Epperson who has 6 goals and 11 assists on the season.
All three weekend games will be streamed on CHLtv and carried on 560 CFOS Bear Radio, while only Thursday nights game in Windsor will be available on Rogers TV Grey County.
