Attack Fall 8-5 in Sunday Matinee
The Attack were back in action this afternoon to finish their weekend set with the Erie Otters. A pair of goals from Taos Jordan last night helped the Attack defeat the Otters 7-4. A high scoring affair saw visiting Erie pick up a 8-5 victory over the Attack.James Petrovski with 2, Servac Petrovsky, Deni Goure, and Cedrick Guindon scored. Harry Nansi, Sam Sedley, Eathan Burroughs, Guindon with 2, Taos Jordan, Deni Goure and Nico Addy assisted.
Erie were able to convert on an early power play chance with Brett Bressette opening the scoring making it a 1-0 Otters lead. The Attack looked to find some momentum in the contest using their speed and physicality to generate pressure in the offensive zone. Corbin Votary was called upon to make a number of stops to keep the deficit at 1. The Attack took advantage of a bayshore bounce with Petrovski chipping home his second of the season to tie the game. Spencer Sova would retake the lead for Erie putting the Otters ahead 2-1. Owen Sound pressured Erie’s netminder Ben Gundreau on the power play looking to tie the game and forced Gudreau to make key stops. Guindon rifled home his 16th of the season on the power play to tie the game at 2. Owen Sound enjoyed a 5 minute power play late in the period and converted quickly with Goure finding the back of the net 4 seconds into the man advantage. A fast-paced first frame ended with the Attack ahead 3-2.
Owen Sound continued their success with the extended power play with Petrovski and Petrovsky adding to the Attack lead to make it a 5-2 game. Malcolm Spence would add a shorthanded marker to make it a 5-3 game. Less than a minute later, Brett Hammond put the Otters within a goal and make it a 5-4 game. The Attack were able to prevent Erie from knotting the game on the power play keeping it a 5-4 Owen Sound lead. Goure raced in on a shorthanded rush and forced Gudreau to make a stop to prevent the Attack from adding to their lead. George made a saves during an Otters attack in the offensive zone to keep Owen Sound ahead by 1 at 5-4. The Attack penalty kill went back to work looking to prevent the Otters from tying the game on a 5 on 3 power play. Great confidence by George in the crease prevented Erie from finding the back of the net. The middle frame ending with Owen Sound holding onto a 1 goal lead at 5-4.
The Attack looked to add to their lead to start the third and fired some shots towards the Otters net. The physical play ramped up in the final frame with both teams looking to make big plays on the ice. Both goaltenders held their ground in the crease keeping it a one goal lead for the Attack at 5-4. Kaleb Smith tied the game for Erie with 8 minutes to go in the contest. Carey Terrance Erie ahead with 6 minutes to go in the third making it a 6-5 Otters lead. Pano Fimis scored on a penalty shot to extend the Otters lead to 7-5. Terrance would fire it into the empty net for a 8-5 lead. Erie skated away with a 8-5 victory.
