Attack drop 2-1 Nail Biter to Storm
The Owen Sound Attack looked for revenge in the back half of their home and home series against the Guelph Storm but unfortunately were unable to clinch a win, dropping a 2-1 decision. Sam McCue had the lone goal for the Attack, while Jake Karabela and Ryan McGuire answered for the Storm.
The first period was fairly quiet with one goal scorer Jake Karabela of Guelph with his second of the season. The Attack created tons of opportunity but they were unable to score.
The Bears and Storm played a more physical game in the second period with three penalties two from Guelph and one from Owen Sound. The first fifteen minutes of the period were evenly matched with the Storm capitalizing on a few more plays than the Attack resulting in Ryan McGuire scoring his second of the season.
The aggressive play stepped up a notch in the third period with several big hits and a crowd pleasing altercation that resulted in the end of the night for James Petrovski and Carter Stephens. The Attack’s solid play was finally rewarded when Sam McCue notched his second of the season to cut the Storm lead in half at 2-1 with under five minutes to play in the game. The Attack continued to push and despite outshooting the Storm 31-17 were unable to complete the comeback for the second night falling 2-1 to the Storm.
