Attack Double Down Wins in a 5-3 Game Over Sarnia
Traveling down to Sarnia for a late Friday game , the Attack doubled down on their winning streak with a 5-3 victory over the Sting. Leading the Attack in scoring was Masen Wray with two goals. Right behind was newly named Attack Captain, Landen Hookey with an assist and goal of his own. Important mentions for goals as well being Rafik Varosyan (4) and Ben Cormier (9) with a goal each. In net for Owen Sound was Matthew Koprowski making 27 saves of 30 shots.
A slow paced first period would put the Attack and the Sting at a stand-still score for the majority of the period. Dropping the puck at 3 minutes remaining, the Attack would rally together for their first goal of the night, Wray tipping the puck into the net from the mid way point of Sarnia’s territory. Sarnia would answer back with two back to back goals upping the board to a 2-1 Sting score.
Period two and the Attack were back to play. With a cutting edge offence, Owen Sound remained in possession of the puck, giving them a foot in the door for adding to their score. With a misfired shot from the Sting, the Attack were once again able to bring play back into the opposing zone. Centering right in front of the Sting net, Hookey would fire the puck into the back of the net bringing the score to a 2-2 tie. It was now halfway through the period and the Attack were on a steady pace. Tristan Delisle woudl draw out the puck into the Stings’ zone, then passing to Wray. Wray in a long shot goal would earn his second goal of the night and the Attack, the score advantage. Taking a page out of Hookey’s books, Varosyan would rush the net in a two-on-one senario. Full steam ahead, Varosyan would sink the puck putting the Attack up by two over the Sting!
A nail bitting constant back and forth of play in the third would leave fans on the edge of their seat. The Sting eventually would pull together halfway througth the period for another goal putting the score at 4-3 Attack. In a last ditch effort the Sting pulled their goalie with under 4 minutes remaining. This was excatly what the Attack needed for just one more point. Cormier, firing the puck all the way across the ice would solidify the Attack’s win with a final goal. The end result: 5-3 Attack victory.
Up next, the bears will head home to the Bayshore for a Saturday night showdown against the London Knights. Tickets for the game can be purchase via the Attack ticketing Website or in-person at the Attack box office.
