Attack Break Away with 4-1 Win over The Petes
The Owen Sound Attack made their way to Peterborough for a Thursday night battle, the first of three games in four days. In a game that would see one slumping team get back in the win column, it was the Attack who came away with a 4-1 victory thanks to goals from Colby Barlow, Deni Goure, Ethan Burroughs and Servac Petrovsky. Goaltender Carter George made 22 saves.
After an initial first 10 minutes that saw both teams play fairly even hockey, the Attack began to sustained control of the puck and were rewarded when Barlow finished off a play from Burroughs for the first goal of the night. The Attack continued to press the Petes and increased the pressure, but could not get another one past Liam Sztuska and headed into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The Petes opened the period, looking for the equlalizer and were rewarded a little over three minutes in off the stick of Chase Lefebvre. The Attack did not wait long to respond when the Attack went to work on the power play and a rocket of shot from Deni Goure beat Sztuska over the glove, making it 2-1 Attack.
The Attack continued press the Petes in the third period and once again it was the Attack’s special teams that would shine. While killing a penalty, Sam Sedley made a hard clearing attempt that seemed to go off the stick of Goure and past the Petes defender in the neutral zone. Seeing the opportunity Burroughs broke hard and won the race to the puck and was rewarded with a short handed breakaway where he beat the Petes goaltender to increase the Attack lead to 3-1. The Attack would add one more, an empty net goal by Petrovsky, who picked up the rebound from a long Konnor Smith shot that hit the post to make the final 4-1.
Sedley returned to the lineup tonight after missing games due to injury and continued his assault on the record books, registering three assists in the game and moving within eight points of Santino Centorame for the franchise record for Most Career Points by a Defensemen.
