The 67’s head back home to Barrie with the series at 0-2.

Unlike last game, the Colts would not be able to catch the 67’s sleeping right out the gate. However, Barrie would be the first to pot a goal courtesy of Cole Beaudoin. Ottawa’s Spencer Bowes would quickly answer back to tie the game. Discipline would ultimately prove to be a problem for the Barber Poles in the second half of the first, but they’d kill off two power plays and ultimately outshoot Barrie 11-10 after one.

The second period started Ottawa’s way, with Cooper Foster netting his second goal of the playoffs in the opening minutes of the period. Yet, this time it’d be the Colts who’d answer back, with a goal from Calvin Crombie. The Colts would take the reins offensively in the second. Ottawa would be called for a penalty in the final quarter of the second frame, and Barrie would capitalize to take a 3-2 lead heading into the third.

Much like in Game 1, Barrie would begin the third with a bang as Dallas Stars prospect Emil Hemming would sink his sixth of the series, before Ben Wilmott would add with his seventh. Frankie Marrelli would cut the lead to 5-3 with a goal later in the period, but once again, it proved to be too little, too late.

Box score

Teams

Score

Shots on goal

Power plays

Ottawa

3

35

0/3

Barrie

5

35

2/4

First period

#29 Cole Beaudoin (5) scores. Fans can tune in to the game at home via Flo Hockey or listen to TSN 1200 for play-by-play from Kenny Walls.

Game one went the way of the Colts, picking up a 4-2 victory over Ottawa in an otherwise tighter matchup. The 67’s have a few areas they could exploit. They could exploit the Colts’ lack of discipline as they got five opportunities on the power play in Game 1. Additionally, Barrie was able to catch Ottawa off-guard early in the periods on Friday—starting on time could easily make the game much more favourable for the 67’s. Lastly, it’s worth noting that the 67’s outshot Barrie over the last two periods of the first game, which should be something to build off of heading into tonight.

Cooper Foster leads the 67’s in points with seven points across five postseason games. Filip Ekberg, Nic Sima, and Thomas Vandenberg all sit atop the team leaderboard in scoring with three goals each this playoffs. Meanwhile, Jack Johnson draws into the lineup for his first career OHL playoff game. The 2025 second-rounder by the 67’s had iced in 10 regular-season games this season, netting two points.

The Colts got a lot of mileage out of their NHL first-rounders in Game 1, with Cole Beaudoin, Emil Hemming, and Kashawn Aitcheson each netting three points. Meanwhile, they were also able to get yet another goal from Ben Wilmott, who sits at a goal-per-game over his six playoff games this postseason. Ottawa will have to find an answer to Ben Hrebik, who stopped 32 of 34 in Game 1.

For more storylines, check out the series preview here, as well as Playoffs Central presented by Gabriel Pizza.

Even though the Colts were placed higher and thus received home ice advantage, the Ottawa 67’s finished above them in both wins and points. Fans can tune in to the game at home via Flo Hockey or listen to TSN 1200 for play-by-play from Kenny Walls.

The Ottawa 67’s are coming off sweeping their first round matchup, the #6 Kingston Frontenacs. Meanwhile, the Barrie Colts had a bit more trouble in their first round, dropping a game to the #7 Niagara IceDogs and winning in five.

Cooper Foster has stepped up as an overager this season, leading in both regular-season and playoff points. David Bedkowski should be primed to continue his strong play this playoffs, already accruing two points in Round 1 while providing a heavy presence on the blueline. Kaleb Dietsch has also elevated his game in the playoffs, with two points against Kingston while remaining a standout shutdown defender. This is also the first game since the OHL has recognized coach Dave Cameron as one of the league’s finalists for the Matt Leyden Trophy, for OHL Coach of the Year.

As for the Colts, the 67’s should be well aware of Cole Beaudoin, who netted 11 points over the IceDogs in Round 1. He, alongside defenseman Kashawn Aitcheson and forward Emil Hemming, is among the team’s three NHL first-round talents. Aitcheson had put up five points over three games, after missing the first two games of the series. While Hemming had nine points in the first five games.

Even though the Colts were ranked higher and thus received home-ice advantage, the Ottawa 67’s finished above them in both wins and points. While this means that we will have to wait until April 14th and 16th to catch a glimpse of the series at TD Place, fans can access tickets for the games starting at just $28.

For more storylines, check out the series preview here, and more at the Playoff Central page, presented by Gabriel Pizza.

Capital connections:

The Barrie Colts feature Ottawa-area born forward, Utah Mammoth first round pick Cole Beaudoin (Kanata). Fans can tune in to the game at home via Flo Hockey or listen to TSN 1200 for play-by-play from Kenny Walls.

Overager Cooper Foster led the 67’s in the regular season with a career high 64 points in 64 games. He’s been off to a rolling start, helping lead the 67’s in playoff points with five, courtesy of a three-assist night in Game 3. Defenseman Kohyn Eshkawkogan, who was recently ranked among Scott Wheeler of The Athletic’s top prospects for the 2027 NHL Draft, is tied with Foster at five points. He’ll look to bounce back from a point-less Game 3 after procuring four in Game 1 and another in Game 2. Defensively, Kaleb Dietsch has elevated his game in the postseason. After missing most of Game 1, he’s tallied an assist in each game since.

As for the Frontenacs, they were led by Alex McLean in the regular season with 45 points. He remains tied with numerous players for the team playoff point lead with two in the series. Among them is defenseman Matthew Henderson, who was the Frontenacs’ lone goal scorer in the last game. Additionally, Riley Clark, who sits tied as well for the team’s +/- lead with 2.

In net, both teams will likely roll with the same goalies from Game 3.

Fetterolf, who had been one of the league’s premier netminders in the regular season, has had a bit of an adjustment to playoff hockey. After a rougher Game 1, he’s come into his own, improving in save percentage and goals against average across each following game before dropping a .944 save percentage and only letting in one in Game 3.

On the other side, Matthew Minchak would be the projected starter. Minchak, much like Fetterolf, made the jump from U.S. high school hockey this season, although he played behind Gavin Betts in their tandem. After a game and a half, Minchak got the call from the Frontenacs to enter into his first OHL playoff action and has been strong since, posting a .943 across 90 minutes.

The other big story of this series was the 67’s ‘progressive clamping down on the Frontenacs. Ottawa went from allowing 31 shots against in Game 1 to just 17 in Game 3. With the series on the line, we’ll see if the 67’s rear guard can withstand one big push from Kingston tonight.

Keep up to date this post-season with Playoffs Central presented by Gabriel Pizza, your go-to hub for everything from tickets, prizing, schedules, and more!

Capital connections:

The Frontenacs roster boasts a few players from Eastern Ontario, including Kieren Dervin (Gloucester), Matthew Frost (Orleans),

The team also features former Ottawa 67’s forward Jack Dever.

By the numbers

Ottawa 67’s

Player

Total

Goals

Nic Sima

2

Assists

Kohyn Eshkawkogan

5

Points

Cooper Foster

5

Power play goals

Thomas Vandenberg

2

+/-

Spencer Bowes

4

Kingston Frontenacs

Player

Total

Goals

Nolan Snyder

1

Assists

Jack Dever

1

Points

Riley Clark

2

Power play goals

Aleks Kulemin

1

+/-

Matthew Frost

2

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]OTTAWA, ON – It hasn’t been easy, but the #3 Ottawa 67’s have picked up three wins over the #6 Kingston Frontenacs to give them the chance to sweep in Kingston on Thursday, April 2nd at 7:05 p.m. for Game 3 of the 2026 OHL Playoffs presented by Nissan.
