Will Cranley Signs Entry-Level Contract with St. Louis Blues
Ottawa 67’s goaltender Will Cranley has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the NHL’s St. Louis Blues, the team announced today.
“Will has shown perseverance and dedication throughout his time with our team,” said General Manager James Boyd. “We are very happy to see Will reach this special milestone in his career, and look forward to supporting him in his continued development with the 67’s.”
Drafted in the second round, 35th overall, by the Barber Poles in the 2018 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, the 6’4, 185lb Cranley has suited up with Ottawa for all three seasons of his OHL career. Part of elite goaltending tandems with Michael DiPietro and Cedrick Andree, Cranley’s 2019-20 season, in particular, was stellar, punctuated by a 13-game win streak, and 20 consecutive games earning at least a point.
Cranley also has shone on the international stage, appearing with Team Canada Red at the 2019 World U17 Hockey Challenge.
The 19-year-old has posted 11 wins, and a shutout during the 2021-22 campaign.
A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Cranley was selected in the sixth round, 163rd overall, by the Blues in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He is the third member of the 67’s to sign his entry-level contract this season, after Jack Matier signed with the Nashville Predators, and Tyler Boucher agreed to terms with the Ottawa Senators.
The 67’s are back in action on Friday night, visiting the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:00pm ET, live on TSN.
