Kody Clark leads 67’s to second-straight OT win
Once again, the 67’s found themselves going to overtime on Sunday afternoon at TD Place.
And once again, the Barber Poles sent the crowd—a season-high gathering of 4,330—home happy as Kody Clark scored in the extra frame to give Ottawa a 4-3 win over the Sudbury Wolves.
The win was Ottawa’s seventh-straight at home and pushed the 67’s record to 9-0-1 in their last 10 games. The club remains in top spot in the entire OHL.
In addition to Clark’s winner, set up by the rookie duo of Marco Rossi and Jack Quinn, Graeme Clarke, Tye Felhaber and Merrick Rippon also scored for Ottawa.
Sudbury came out strong in the first period, taking a 2-0 lead thanks to goals coming from Macauley Carson and David Levin. Clarke cut that lead in half with just about two minutes left in the opening period with his sixth of the year.
Early in the second, Levin added another one for the Wolves, giving them a two goal edge once again. After being kept off the score sheet for the first time in 11 games Friday night against London, Tye Felhaber got the 67’s right back into this one when he tipped his 16thgoal of the year past Sudbury goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen before both teams headed back to the locker rooms.
Rippon would score the lone goal of the third period, sending a shot from the point that found the back of the net 7:03 into the final third of the game.
Macauley Carson took a two-minute minor for hooking only 18 seconds into overtime, giving the 67’S a 4-on-3 powerplay opportunity. That was all what the Barber Poles needed, as Clark finished off a nice passing play with a one-timer to give Ottawa the win.
Up next for the 67 is a three game road trip that starts in Windsor on Thursday night before taking them to Flint and Saginaw. The Barber Poles return home for the annual School Day Game on November 7 at the Arena at TD place.

- The 67’s peppered the Wolves’ goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen with a total of 49 shots in the game.
- There were two goalscorers in Ottawa’s overtime wins this weekend (Keating, Clark), but the two goals have something in common; rookie Jack Quinn picked up an assist on both.
- With a goal today, Tye Felhaber is tied for the league lead in goals with 16, while Austen Keating still leads the OHL with 21 assists.
- Cedrik Andree made 17 saves to pick up the win in goal for Ottawa. He has won his last nine games (9-0-1). He has a goals-against average of 1.86, along with a 0.931 save percentage during that streak
- 67’s defenceman Noel Hoefenmayer led both teams with 12 shots in the game.
