Tyler Cuma Back with 67’s
The Ottawa 67’s today announced that veteran defenceman Tyler Cuma is returning to the team from the NHL’s Minnesota Wild training camp, and he’ll be in action this Friday night when the 67’s take on Niagara in their home opener. Cuma, Minnesota’s first-round pick in the NHL Entry Draft in 2008, will arrive back in Ottawa this evening and it’s expected he’ll practice with the 67’s on Thursday.
It’s great news that we’ll have a world-class defenceman like Tyler in our lineup, said Head Coach, Chris Byrne. He’s an all-around player and we’re looking forward to him playing a big role on the team this year.
Cuma, 19, missed most of last season after suffering a knee injury during training camp for Canada’s World Junior team last December. The 6’2, 190 pound native of Bowmanville ON., bounced-back from MCL surgery to complete a rigorous training camp in Minnesota and knee was not an issue. Prior to last season, Cuma was an OHL All-Star with 32 points in 52 games.
