Shane Prince
Ottawa 67’s Alumni (2009-2012)
Shane Prince did not start his junior career with the Ottawa 67’s. Prince was acquired in 2010 via trade which saw the Ottawa 67’s send a third round draft to the Kitchener Rangers in return for the future NHLer. Prince played for the rest of the season with the Barber Poles and averaged 0.5 points a game.
Prince really came into his own during his third year in the league and first full season with the Barber Poles. Prince exploded for 88 points in 59 games which was nearly triple the points he had the year prior. As a result of his much improved performance, Prince was added to the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game as a member of Team Cherry. Unfortunately, that game did end well for Team Cherry as other they were pummeled 7-1 by Team Orr. Shane Prince however, scored the only goal for Team Cherry that game.
Following the season, Prince would enter the NHL Draft. He wouldn’t have to go far as he was selected in the second round, 61st overall by the Ottawa Senators. Prince would not make the Senators right away and would return to the 67’s.
In his final season with 67’s, Prince would pick up right where he left off. Prince would finish the season with 90 points 57 games. Following another impressive season from Prince, he was signed to an entry level contract by the Ottawa Senators.
Prince would get a consistent role with the Ottawa Senators in his first season or first three for that matter. Prince would spend his first three professional seasons with the Binghamton Senators. In his fourth professional season, he finally made the NHL and was a member of the Ottawa Senators. Hi tenure with Ottawa would not last long as during the season he was traded to the New York Islanders where he remains to this day. Unfortunately, Shane is out for the entire 2017-18 season with an ankle injury that resulted in a surgery that sidelined the former Barber Pole for 4-6 months.
