Joey Costanzo

The Windsor Spitfires acquired goaltender Joey Costanzo from the Niagara IceDogs in exchange for a 4th rd pick in 2023 and a 12th rd pick in 2026 ahead of the 2022-23 season. The trade happened on September 27th 2022. Costanzo was drafted by the IceDogs in the 2021 OHL PS in round 2, 23rd overall.

Joey Costanzo, born on July 26, 2005, in Toronto, Ontario. Standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 174 pounds, Costanzo catches left-handed and has developed a reputation for his athleticism and reliability in high-pressure situations.

Costanzo began his OHL career with the Niagara IceDogs, who selected him 23rd overall in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. As a rookie during the 2021-2022 season, he appeared in 17 games, recording a 5-10 win-loss record, a 4.92 goals-against average (GAA), and a .879 save percentage. In September 2022, Costanzo was traded to the Windsor Spitfires, where he quickly established himself as a dependable netminder. During the 2022-2023 season, he played 40 games, achieving a 26-6-0-2 record, a 3.03 GAA, and a .901 save percentage.  As of the 2024-2025 season, Costanzo continues to excel and finished second the league with 34 wins and providing stability for the Spitfires alongside backup goaltender Carter Froggett.
