December 17, 2014 (Ottawa, ON.) – The Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) today announced lower parking rates and other price adjustments to make visiting the Shops at Lansdowne, the Ottawa Farmers’ Market and attending an Ottawa 67’s game a more affordable experience for the whole family.
“You talked, we listened,” said Jeff Hunt, President OSEG Sports, the group that owns the 67’s, operates The Arena and Stadium at TD Place and manages the broader Lansdowne experience. “Many of our Lansdowne visitors perceived that prices for parking, 67’s tickets and food and beverage services were too high, so today we’re announcing measures to deal with all those areas of concern and improving traffic flow within the parking garage.”
Parking prices in Lansdowne’s underground garage have been cut sharply with the implementation of a new 1/2-hour parking rate of $1.50. That lower rate will be in effect 7-days/week with the exception of large-scale event days with projected attendance over 15,000. For 67’s fans, the change reduces the game day parking rate from $15 to approximately $9 (depending on the length of a particular game) and fans can order parking online in advance for $8 dollars, with no extra fees for games that go longer than three-hours. Advance parking reservations also deliver the added bonus of access to a reserved parking area in the garage that provides streamlined egress once a game is over.
“There’s always a crush at the end of a game when a large number of fans leave the garage at the same time,” said Hunt. “That’s somewhat compounded here at Lansdowne by the fact we have other activities on the site such as the Ottawa Farmers’ Market, Whole Foods, Sporting Life and other popular shops and restaurants. Over the last couple of months, we’ve learned a great deal about managing traffic flow within the garage and we are immediately implementing new measures that I think will make a noticeable difference.”
For 67’s ticket prices, OSEG has reduced by $4.00 the cost of a game-day ticket, which brings the adult price to as low as $18 and the children’s price to $13. The 67’s also have other cost-saving ticket programs on the books. They encourage groups to attend games and save up to 50% and they offer a “Kid’s Pass,” which enables kids 12 and under to attend games for less than $1 per.
At the concession stands, a range of new menu items priced at under $5 will be introduced in January along with price-saving combo options. There’s also a 12-oz. draft beer priced at only $4.50.
“We think these measures will encourage the general public to visit Lansdowne and the 67’s more often,” said Hunt. “The new parking rates are even lower than those at City of Ottawa lots, and that’s for visitors to TD Place, shoppers, skaters and the Farmers’ Market. The lower game-day ticket price means you can make a last-minute decision to see the 67’s and get-in for under $20 ($13 for kids). Those prices are lower than the CHL average.”
The 67’s also encourage fans to ride OC Transpo to their games. A ticket to the game is a also ticket to ride for free on any OC Transpo bus on game days.
