Nesbitt has howl vs. Wolves
By Sun Media
SUDBURY Thomas Nesbitt’s short-handed goal 1:55 into the third period proved to be the difference and his empty-netter was some added insurance last night as the 67’s topped the Wolves 3-1 to earn 3-out-of-4 points on their northern road swing to start the OHL season.
The 67’s, who lost 5-4 in overtime on Friday night to the Greyhounds in Sault Ste. Marie, also got a goal from Dalton Smith and a 17-save performance from goaltender Petr Mrazek last night.
Mrazek picked up an assist on Nesbitt’s empty-net goal.
Dean Howard scored the Wolves’ lone goal on the power play.
The 67’s victory also gave coach Chris Byrne his first OHL win.
The 67’s home opener is next Friday, when they host the Niagara IceDogs at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre.
The Greyhounds will pay Ottawa a visit next Sunday for a 2 p.m. matchup.
