Jamie McGinn
Ottawa 67’s Alumni (2004-2008)
The Ottawa 67’s selected Jamie McGinn in the 2004 OHL Priority Selection with the 50th overall pick in the third round. Jamie would join the club right away and log 22 points in his first season across 59 games. Despite a low production, the 67’s rookie got the nod from Team Ontario and participated in the 2005 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Team Ontario finished the tournament in fourth place and McGinn registered four points in six games.
The following season, McGinn made a big jump in his level of play jumping from 22 points his rookie season to 57 points in his second season. As a result, McGinn would end up having a busy season starting off with being called upon to represent the OHL in the Canada /Russia series. Jamie was also selected as one of the top prospects in the CHL played in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game during the season. McGinn also received the opportunity to represent Team Canada at the 2006 World U18 Championships. McGinn would again fall just short of a medal in sixth place once again ad individually recorded three points in seven games.
Following the season, Jamie McGinn was selected 36th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the second round of the 2006 NHL draft. Over the next two seasons, McGinn would return to Ottawa with brief stints in Worcester, San Jose’s affiliate which he played a total of 12 games with over the two seasons registering four points.
McGinn’s first full year in the NHL was primarily played with the Sharks but was cut short of the entire season with the team as he was dealt to the Colorado Avalanche at the trade deadline.
After playing his longest NHL tenure with the Avalanche McGinn was again dealt, this time to the Buffalo Sabres. Since his season in Buffalo McGinn has also played for the Anaheim Ducks and the Arizona Coyotes and now is member of the Florida Panthers, who is under contract with until the end of next season.
