Brian Patafie moving on
The Ottawa 67’s today announced that veteran physical therapist/athletic trainer/equipment manager, Brian Patafie, is leaving the organization. Patafie, who spent 8 seasons in the organization during two different tenures, will be pursuing other interests.
The timing is right for me, given that the 67’s are about to begin a new era under Coach Chris Byrne, said Patafie. Its been a wonderful experience with the 67’s and, in particular, being part of Brian Kilrea’s Hockey Hall of Fame induction season and then his final season behind the bench. And having an opportunity to work with all the players and to be involved in community activities has been a blessing. This is a great organization.
As his title indicates, Brian Patafie played a lot of important roles with our team, said 67’s Owner and Governor, Jeff Hunt. But if you referenced everything he did for us in his title, you’d never be able to fit it on one piece of paper. He looked after our Champions for Education program¦taking the players to schools and helping them understand the community responsibilities they have as elite athletes. His personality made him an unofficial publicisteverybody loved talking to Pataf. And that quick wit and sense of humour also helped to relieve the pressure felt by the players. We wish Brian well.
Among his more recent accomplishment, Brian Patafie is the author of Ice it Down, a best selling chronicle of his 30-years of experiences with the 67’s and other teams.
