Wolves chew victory over Barber Poles
The Ottawa 67’s are on a losing streak for the first time in 2024-25, after dropping a 4-1 decision to the Sudbury Wolves inside The Arena at TD Place on Sunday afternoon.
In search of another good start, the Barber Poles couldn’t quite muster chances early on. On a neural zone takeaway, Lucas Di Giantommaso broke in on a partial breakaway, and beat 67’s netminder Jaeden Nelson over the glove-side shoulder.
The response wasn’t far away, however. Will Gerrior – from an angle very few people would look at and think to shoot – bested Finn Marshall, banking the puck off the post and in, levelling the score.
To begin the second period, the Wolves killed off a five-on-three opportunity, and bent momentum their way. Hudson Chitaroni and Alex Pharand turned the energy into goals, putting Sudbury out in front by a couple with only 20 minutes left to play.
The final frame didn’t yield much positive for the Barber Poles, as the Wolves extended their lead to 4-1 on a top-corner snipe by Chase Coughlan, essentially ending any hopes for a 67’s comeback.
