Steelheads spoil 67’s homecoming
The first game inside The Arena at TD Place in 2025 didn’t go the way the Ottawa 67’s would have hoped, as they fell 3-1 to the Brampton Steelheads on Wednesday night.
Only a little over a minute into the contest, it seemed as if the Barber Poles had some jump in their step, with Caden Kelly finishing off his ninth of the season after a nice pass by Chase Yanni, claiming a 1-0 lead.
Ottawa had a couple of nice chances to extend their lead in the first, but couldn’t light the lamp. Instead, it was the Steelheads getting the next goal, on a perfect shot by Parker Von Richter on the power play.
In the second, the Trout added another, this time thanks to Jack Van Volson, who put home a goal on an odd-man rush, giving Brampton their first lead of the hockey game.
Kieran Witkowski sealed the deal midway through the third frame, firing home a shot from the top of the circle immediately off the faceoff, sending the visitors home with a 3-1 victory.
