The Barber Poles are in action bright and early, today, and making the trip over to Canadian Tire Centre, for their annual School Day Game. It’s once again the Kingston Frontenacs coming to town for the matchup, that gets underway at 10:30am. Fans who aren’t among the thousands of screaming students can watch live locally on Rogers TV, stream on CHL TV, or hear Kenny Walls call the action on TSN 1200.
Ottawa bounced back with a big win on home ice, Sunday afternoon, felling the Sarnia Sting by a final score of 6-3. Brady Stonehouse continued his dominance over his home region teams, with a pair of goals, and the other markers came by way of the red-hot Luca Pinelli, Will Gerrior, and Henry Mews, respectively. Collin MacKenzie made the start in goal, but was forced to leave after the second period due to injury. Max Donoso came on in relief to seal the victory for his compatriot.
The Frontenacs have won two straight, most recently picking up a 5-4 shootout victory over the Oshawa Generals on Sunday night. Matthew Soto scored a pair, with Maddox Callens and Gage Hayes also striking, before the Generals mounted a rally to send the game to the skills competition. Christopher Thibodeau logged the only goal of the shootout, and Mason Vaccari earned a 26-save victory.
It’s the second meeting of the year between these two divisional rivals, and first since Ottawa’s third game of the season, where Kingston delivered them a 5-2 defeat at the Leon’s Centre.
