ROUND 1 GAME 3 RECAP: Cooper Foster collects three assists, helping Ottawa to 3-0 series lead
The 67’s would break the ice mid-way through the first with Nic Sima finding the net courtesy of an own goal from Frontenacs’ defenseman André Mondoux. It wouldn’t be without theatrics, however, as the Frontenacs would challenge for goalie interference and ultimately get the goal called back. The 67’s would pick up the man advantage off a hooking call from goaltender Matthew Minchak on Jasper Kuhta, but the 67’s would not capitalize. However, Ottawa would get on the board not long afterwards, with Spencer Bowes beating Minchak one-on-one. The 67’s finished the period with a 1-0 lead, outshooting Kingston 11-2.
The second period was much more back and forth. Both teams would get their special teams tested, the 67’s would go on the penalty kill twice, Kingston would go on it once, and both teams would go four-on-four as well. Nevertheless, neither squad would find the net. Ottawa would continue to outshoot Kingston, leading 13-8 in this frame.
With only a one-goal lead heading into the third, the 67’s put the pedal to the medal in the third with Jasper Kuhta and Sam McCue collecting goals. Cooper Foster assisted on all three of the team’s goals from that point. Matthew Henderson would snap the shutout, Nic Sima would sink the empty netter for the win.
Ryder Fetterolf would have a lighter workload, but would still play exceptionally for the 67’s, stopping 17 of 18 shots.
