Rain and Rivalry in Erie
OTTAWA, ON – On this gloomy, rainy Friday night, the 67’s are in Erie for their second matchup of the season against the Erie Otters. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. at Erie Insurance Arena. Fans can watch live on Flo Hockey or listen to Kenny Walls on TSN 1200.
The 67’s are coming off a big 4-3 overtime victory last night against the second-ranked team in the Eastern Conference, the Niagara IceDogs. Nathan Amidovski opened the scoring in the first period, followed by Nic Whitehead, who added another in the second with an impressive passing play from Jasper Kuhta. Despite Niagara taking back control in the third, Kuhta tied the game with just 45 seconds remaining, sending both clubs to overtime. Kohyn Eshkawkogan secured the win with the OT goal, while Ryder Fetterolf made crucial saves throughout the night, earning the Canadian Superstore Save of the Night.
The Otters enter tonight’s game following an 8-3 loss to Owen Sound on November 2. Goals were scored by OA Dylan Edwards, leading goal scorer Brett Hammond, and rookie defenceman Julius Saari with his first of the season. The last time these two teams met, Ottawa secured a strong 4-1 victory. In that game, Cooper Foster recorded his first hat trick of the season, and Eshkawkogan scored his first goal of the new season. Erie will be eager for a comeback tonight, while the 67’s aim to carry the momentum from last night into tonight’s game.
