Otters make sole stop in Ottawa on Friday
The Ottawa 67’s (14-18-3-5) are back on home ice at 7 p.m. on Friday night, hosting the Erie Otters (19-14-4-1) for the only time in the 2024-25 season. Tickets are still available here, while everything you need to know about your evening at TD Place can be found here.
You can find the game from home on Rogers TV or CHLTV, and you can hear Kenny Walls’ call on TSN 1200.
The Barber Poles go into Friday’s contest looking to secure their first win of the new year, having dropped their six games thus far in 2025. Most recently, it was a home-and-home series with the Oshawa Generals, where the 67’s gave the first-place team in the East Division everything they could handle in the first leg, falling 3-2 on a last-minute winner.
Unfortunately for Ottawa, they couldn’t muster it a second time. Colby Barlow scored twice, and four other Generals found twine in a 6-2 win. Will Gerrior and Jack Dever got the markers for the Barber Poles.
The Otters come into Ottawa missing some key pieces, including Team Canada defenceman, and potential first-overall pick in this summer’s NHL Draft Matthew Shaefer. The fifth seed in the Western Conference, Erie has dropped four of their last five games, with the lone win coming in overtime against the Guelph Storm.
Last Saturday, the Otters fell to the Sarnia Sting 5-3, despite holding a 38-22 lead on the shot clock. Sam Alfano scored a pair of goals in the losing effort.
Yet to meet this season, the 67’s and Otters split the season series a game apiece last year.

Keys to the game
- Faceoff dot
Starting with possession means you have more chances to score, it’s simple math.
- Neutral zone
Nothing can come easy in the middle of the rink. Make each zone entry a challenge for the opposition.
- Special teams
Yes, it’s boring, but winning the special teams battle would be a big help for the Barber Poles tonight.
