LiUNA Partner Spotlight
Joining the OSEG team back in 2017, the Labourers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) has several unique assets that help them stand out on 67’s and REDBLACKS game days. The official union of both the REDBLACKS and the 67’s, LIUNA 527 provides a wide variety of union benefits to its 5,000+ labourer members. These benefits include access to training, higher wages, pensions and much more.
During REDBLACKS games, the LiUNA brand is easily observable on national broadcasts with its sponsored player bench. The LiUNA workbench represents a unique and authentic way to engage fans at the stadium, building awareness of the brand among current and future LiUNA members. Moreover, the REDBLACKS team often embodies the values of LiUNA, presenting a hardworking no-quit attitude whenever they take the field. With accompanying sideline LEDs, LiUNA has accomplished high-value organic exposure to highlight itself to millions of people.
At 67’s games, the LiUNA footprint is slightly different. Every game, 67’s players wear LiUNA-branded warm-up jerseys when taking to the ice. These jerseys are unmissable, boasting high-visibility vests that make players resemble labourers themselves. They also incorporate some of the fun sides of hockey culture with name tags bearing 67’s player nicknames. The players have relished the opportunity to personalize warm-up jerseys and have continuously supported the initiative since its inception.
Finally, LiUNA also offers children the chance to get up close to the action themselves with the new Mini Apprentice program. Two children are provided with an unforgettable 67’s experience where they can watch warm-ups from the ice level, obtain a signed warm-up jersey themselves, snap a picture with their favourite 67’s player and join the team on-ice for the national anthem. The early reception to the program has been fantastic, with spots for every home game fully booked in a single week. The program has proven to be an authentic way to engage with local hockey fans throughout the greater Ottawa area while allowing LiUNA to reward their own members.
